Re: Italy v France who will progress
I think France will create more opportunites - will they be more clinical? that is the question, IF Vieira plays and is fit enough to make a difference that could be the key.... perhaps one of the frenchies can update us on his situation.
Surely he has to go for it, my observation is that (although i don't particularly think hes a good footballer allbeit a half decent finisher Trezeguet you could argue would at least bag a goal with a chance) is that they have no real potent goal threat upfront, Henry has been pants since his wife left him, Benzema looks for me as though he is too eager and isn't relaxed, Gomez? has just been awful.
So its difficult, i can see Toni scoring, or Delp for example.... but can't see where Frances goals will come from based on their current players...
Ribery is key for me, he will have to impose himself in the way he has been, but create more real chances / opportunities.

Voted Italy but think Romania will beat the Dutch 1-0 and they deserve to go through far more than Italy or France do

You do realise that Romania can lose and still go through?Fey wrote:Pierre Littbarski wrote:Fey wrote:no

Besides its in the stars to lose the semi, against Italy or France!
Let me try and explain how this works:
Scenario 1. If Romania win, they go through, the result of the other game does not matter
Scenario 2. If Romania draw with Holland, then:
a)if France win, they go through
b)if Italy win, they go through
c)If Italy and France have a draw, then Romania go through
Scenario 3: If Romania lose to Holland by 3 goals or less (except 3-0)
a)if France win, they go through
b)if Italy win, they go through
c)if Italy and France have a goalless draw, Romania go through
d)if Italy and France have a score draw, Italy go through
Scenario 4: If Romania lose to Holland 3-0 or by more than 3 goals
a)if France win, they go through
b)if Italy win, they go through
c)if Italy and France have a draw, Italy go through
So most likely, Romania are goin through!!

Can't see where the supply for the goals will come from, unless Cassano starts and plays well each game. I also think their back line defence can be 'got at' not the same menacing defence they had a few years ago (Maldini, Nesta, Cannavaro)

Re: Italy v France who will progress
Romania should really fancy their chances here.
They are playing a team:
-that doesn't have to win or get any kind of result to top the group
-that would love to see two big names go out (who could still be a threat to them later in the comp despite their convincing wins)
So Romania will be up against a team not just with no incentive to win but with an actual incentive to lose, who they've beaten recently in the past and know how to deal with.
Oh...and they're playing against their ressies.
People should cut out the France/Italy debate as if it could only be those two. I'd say theres at least a 50% chance that Romania will beat Holland tomorrow

Romania will go through. I don't think there will be a miracle. Italy-France will end up as a draw, so I guess if Romania fails to win Italy will go through.

.. and that will be the end of the Domenech c**t area.. Hopefully. He so much hated anyway in France because of his bizarre tactics, selections and stupid and childish comments in the media. Bring on D. Deschamps!!

Exactly. Infact if you ask me, its about 66% chance that Romania go through.... and about 33% chance that its Italy/FranceRasiak-9 wrote:Romania should really fancy their chances here.

Re: Italy v France who will progress
romania to draw and go through after france and italy draw
the italians to claim a conspiracy against them (like there is every time they don't win
I see a slight chance for italy based mainly on them having a decent keeper while the french don't, and if they play cassano more than the last 15 mins. Toni has been pants for me and I'd even drop him if I was in charge (of course he'll now go and score a hat-trick
whoever does go through will most likely lose to spain anyway

Re: Italy v France who will progress
Well, I beg to differ. If France or Italy go through, IMO they are likely to beat the Spanish. Even Romania will give Spain a bigger contest that they have had so far, and could beat them.110% wrote:

Its not that I don't rate the Spanish... just think that a quality opposition will expose their defence. And Ita/Fra/Rom are all better than the 3 teams in Spain's group.
