So in that case do you think Guiza is more suited to a 4-4-2? Presumably in Spain's 4-5-1 formation he'll be expected to run the flanks as well? He's done well though. What's that; 2 goals + an assist in about 130 minutes of football?

Germany are favourites, by a country-mile

details often decide games like this

    so

    anything can happen

75% chance of Germany lifting their 4th European Cup

In a normal team he would, but if we play with five in midfield I reckon we'll have most of the possession. I can't wait for tomorrow's write-up of his performance in the Daily Mail.

i think Spain should play the 4-1-4-1 they used before the Euros. questions is who to use on top. i think all 3 attackers could work and offer something.

Torres- Now hasnt always been on his best in the cup but he hasnt been Cr@p or whatever. he has done fine without being spectacular. he has pace and power which could work well against a slow German defence.

Villa- Well he is Spains best attacker imo and was the one playing for Spain in that system when it worked. he links up well with the midfield and is good in most things but he lacks some power upfront.

Guiza- He offers strength in the box and someone to play it to as a target man. he would be also give spain the chance of more crosses from Capdevilla-Ramos.

Considering Germanys slow defence from a tactical point i would choose Torres. if Guiza starts perhaps it would be best to also use Carzola or Sergio garcia since they offer more wing play.

I think it'll be an high-tempo game..and it will be very close like the Germany-Portugal game...

I really like both teams and I hope the better one wins...

I don't know, I think it's still going to come down to Marchena-Puyol who have been solid thus far but I keep expecting one of them to have a howler at some point. I think Spain can score on Germany but I fear that there will be some slip up at the back that the Germans will capitalize on.

Key point made by Guus Hiddink at the bottom of that article. Similar to Rijkaard's Barcelona (when things were going well), Spain pass it around rapidly in midfield with a lot of movement off the ball from the other midfielders. So although the passes seem innocuous, this tires out the opposition without them realising it, since they are constantly chasing the ball down, but over small distances.

If a team decides to conserve energy it would mean defending deep, and that is again risky because it requires just one through ball from Xavi/Iniesta/Silva/Cesc to result in a chance at goal (as long as Torres is not at the end of it).

ffs it's simple IF (OK it's abig IF) Spain play anywhere near their best they will win. this is a russian side beaten easily once who then battered holland and then got battered again by spain. imho they may benefit from the striker injury (albeit it'd have been better being niña cos he's sh¡te), now aragones will go 4-5-1 and match up v the germans, last night the game changed when villa went off, spain the started to dominate given the german midfield the probs of frings i see no reason why they can't dominate again.

    Viva España. Vamos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Spain always have difficulties with negative teams, look against Italy! The Germans will be no different! They will dug themselves in like they do on our beaches. But if their is a god, it will be 5-0 for Spain!

I hope he'll play the same formation as it gets the best out of all the players, rather than depending on a counter-attack.

The 4-1-4-1?, if he was to play this he probably will start with Torres, maybe Guiza. After tonight and against Italy, surely Fabregas will start. Thought the Spanish midfield in the 2nd half was excellent.

If we play with Cesc, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva and Senna we shouldn't have any problem bossing the midfield. We just have to pray that our Inzaghi in Guiza plays well.

Francesc Fabregas Soler must start the final. Either one of Guiza or Torres if they start should do well.

As much as I've been praising Guiza, I still think it makes sense to keep him on the bench. He makes a huge impact off the bench, whereas I don't think Torres can do the same. Just bring him on earlier if Torres is having another bad night.

And latest news is that Villa *may* have a slight chance of being fit. Let's see whether Cesc then starts at the expense of Torres or not.
