    ok

For a country as small and unfashionable as Croatia, the team they had circa 1996-98 was absolutely phenomenal, especially their attackers...

    ----------------- Asanovic Boban ---------------

    ------- Stanic ---------------------- Jarni---------

    -------------------- Prosinecki --------------------

    --------------- Boskic ------ Suker --------------

The current group is very good but back then it was really suberb.

'Unfashionable' for whom? Over here, players (and coaches btw.) from (ex-)Yugoslavia have always been rated highly. They have always been known to produce quality players on a constant basis. The team that missed the 1992 Euros due to the war was incredibly strong on paper, for example, a shame that they could never show their talent.

Eastern Europeans seem to be underrated in general in Britain.

Knowing they can no longer qualify, Lithuania and Belgium seem to be having a bet as to who can pull off the most embarrassing result tonight...

    Armenia 1-0 Belgium HT
    Faroe Islands 1-1 Lithuania L

Could go either way Very Happy

    Faroe Islands 2-1 Lithuania L

Factoid: ex-Ireland manager Brian Kerr is now manager of Faroe Islands.

God, Belgium are really shit. They're next generation has a lot of talent, but they have a loser's mentality.
If they get their act together they can not only comfortably quality for the EC, but also get to the quarterfinals.

I was trolling a bit, a bad habit I picked up here, but I'm actually saddened by the current state of Belgian football. I remember them having truly awesome teams in the 1980s (and earlier), both the national team and even on the club level. They seem to have a few promising talents coming through, but yet have to assemble a competitive team I guess.

Maybe Advocaat can change that. Good old Dick is the most underrated Dutch coach.

Belgium have put in a good claim with a 2-1 loss at Armenia, but Sweden are dark horses.

    Malta 0-0 Sweden L
Into the 2nd half there, and Sweden still had decent chance of 2nd place. That would be a shambolic result!

Salihovic just scored a stunning free-kick. Right in the top corner

I think Terim (turkey's manager) has been sent to the stands.
