Serie A salaries Empty Serie A salaries

Post by bluenine Sat Sep 06, 2008 12:59 pm

Looks like Inter have become as expensive as Milan now, with the new acquisitions.... and Juve have caught up!!

What is so amazing is how competitive Roma and Fiorentina are, with less then half the salary base...

Ibra is top Serie A earner
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The total wages in Serie A rose by £81.5m this season and Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the top earner on £8.8m. The earnings of all the Italian League’s players put together now comes to £620m per year, the highest figure in the last five terms. Milan were the big spenders, but have been joined by local rivals Inter, as both now shell out £97m for their players.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the highest earning star in Serie A, as his contract guarantees him £8.8m net. Kaka follows suit by picking up £7.3m in order to stay at Milan and ignore much higher offers from Chelsea and Real Madrid. Juventus have picked up the pace after their spell in Serie B, paying £92m, while Roma raised their output to £42m.

According to the special investigation in the Gazzetta dello Sport this weekend, the real surprises are the increase in wages provided by Fiorentina, Napoli and Genoa. Lazio and Udinese have also shelled out more of the cash, but Atalanta and Reggina aim to survive in Serie A despite cutting their wage bills.

Just by purchasing power parity, EPL must have twice that wage bill or something like that...
