He was nothing but a hoofer and a goal merchant. Had a good engine too.

He has recently started to develop his passing more and is a better player as a result.

One of Chelsea's top 5 performers for the last 5 years, decent?

He's more than decent. He's not skilful but there's more to his game than people would like to give him credit for.

He's a good player, just got a little overhyped, and he has been incredibly poor in so many games, and at times appears very limited, but he's always been a good or very good player, just people were calling him one of the worlds best, while he his those days, he's nowhere near that.

I disagree wholeheartedly. While his passing ability might be the same he actually looks for a pass now instead of shooting all the time.

The problem with him is he hasn't always been a great team player. Just like Gerrard he has always had a habit of going for glory.

what is the point of this thread?

Lampard won UEFA Club midfielder of the year last season and is the best paid player in the Premiership. Anyone who thinks he is underrated is an idiot.

I'm with Roger, thought he was shite and only knew how to hit balls in the air or sideways passes, but he's added a lot more to his game and is a more complete and sophisticated player now. Still wouldn't get into my world's best squad of 23 or whatever, but a good player.

Well he had a 2 year period (start of 2006 WC till his mother's death) where, goals aside, he contributed very little to the team. I think that the arrival of Deco and the belief that his place in the team was no longer guaranteed (hence why the club very nearly sold him to Inter) has made him raise his game.

He hasn't improved in ability, but he's just doing the simple things, like 5 yard passes which get the team going forward (instead of 50 yard Hollywood passes which end up in the stands).

Yeah thought so as well, they dominated as the half went on. Though Danny and Arshavin are getting the ball, they can't get behind Juve's defense.

    Wrong thread btw Wink

He scuffed it a bit, and it looked well awkward. Wasn't something that came naturally to him, should I say.
