Bullard told he can go

Sky Sports News sources understand Jimmy Bullard has been told he can leave Fulham in the January transfer window.


Despite having shown arguably the best form of his
career at Craven Cottage it appears Bullard's future lies away from
West London.The former Wigan favourite has this season voiced a
desire to engage in contract renewal talks with Fulham, but Roy Hodgson
met his request by urging patience.Earlier this month player and
club did sit down for discussions but it would appear an accord has
failed to be struck, with Bullard's existing deal having a
year-and-a-half left to run.Hodgson has conceded a big money
offer could prove difficult for Fulham to ignore and it now looks as
though the club are resigned to losing one of their prized assets.A
number of high-profile top-flight clubs have been linked with an
approach for a player who has broken into Fabio Capello's squad of late.Sky Sports News understands no verbal or written contract offer was ever put to Bullard.

I've said for a while a team like Boro would be a great place for Bullard, they can afford his wages, and he can prosper in a creative decifit in their midfield

This isn't new. Hodgson has been saying if a really big offer came for Bullard or Hangeland we're not the type of team that can say no. The problem with Bullard is hes been out for 18 months so has only played one year in total hence our reluctance to commit to a long deal.

Jimmy is trying to get a contract that suits him. He isn’t sure we can provide that contract so we must be realistic - there are other clubs that can offer that and pay the transfer fee we think he’s worth.

We are waiting to see what happens as he has his own ambitions. He is sitting down with both his agent and our chief-executive, Alistair Mackintosh, but I don’t know if he has had an actual offer. I stick to my original statement that I would be happy if the January transfer window came and went without any transfer activity, and certainly no-one at Fulham has told him he can leave.
