    Francesco Totti Empty Francesco Totti

Post by The Pröfessör Thu Feb 26, 2009 4:06 pm

After being pocketed the entire match by our young Brazilian Denilson, he got frustrated and thought the only way he'd he get the better of him is by assaulting the young man.

Totti Playing Football with Denilson's Balls - video powered by Metacafe

I'm surprised this didn't get picked up by the press. And the commentators saying Denilson 'hurt himself' was quite pathetic really.
The ref didn't see the incident properly, so Totti wasn't booked. Now my question is, should he be be suspended for the returned leg based on video evidence? As far I can remember I think Essien was suspended for a tackle on Hamann which the ref didn't see based on video evidence, but I'm not so sure.

    What says the EMB?

    No...absolutely ridiculous.

Assault? Assault is when you elbow a player in the face, and it doesn't get seen so you go onto score...something you may remember.

He turned and caught him. Ok...so he says he hurt himself...but:

A)Totti was turning and although kept his leg high...didn't intend to catch Denilson.

B)No matter if Totti sneezed, kicked, or pick-axed him...the reaction from Denilson or any of your players would've been the same.

A suspension for that would be ludicrous. Back to the drawing board for ways to get rid of Roma's best players.

    <Ale>.

Totti's got a track record but I think that was a genuine accident He runs over the ball for an attempted dummy, lifting his foot, but at that moment, Denilson comes in, Totti catches him, and the ball Denilson too.

Denilson is now worth £8.5mil after that Ale

Far more than that TS. That was his worth after his 1st few appearances. Now he's got 3 PL goals, 5 assists, top tackler in the CL and one of the best in the EPL, one of the top passers in the league and CL, one of the highest interceptors etc

Surely that should be enough reason why he should worth triple his initially worth when was just an unproven kid, no? Wink

Why is everyone so sure it wasn't intentional. Totti has got a history of petulance in the past. Besides, players are booked for any tackles above the shin regardless of whether they were intentional or not. I remember RVP sent off for a challenge that wasn't intentional in the eyes of many in the CL.

It was deliberate, why would he raise his foot like that? He's lucky he didn't get caught. The referee was not far though but didn't c it.

OK fair enough If that's they way u see it. I wanna know whether everyone on here thinks so. I have seen comments from some Arsenal fans who found it a shocking challenge.

The question is did Wenger see it? Has he bitched about it yet? No, then it probably isn't the end of the world.

So you think it's OK for players to be kicking others in the bollocks without nothing being done? I prefer someone aiming at my knees to that area.

You say it wasn't deliberate, fair enough that's how u see it, but others might see it differently.

Wow - you have a player in his early twenties who can run longer and faster than an Italian in his 30's ?

I suppose that's a worthy reason to take the footballing high-ground for an Arsenal fan ?

You say that any tackle over the knee is punished - but its not even a tackle.

Going on the Adebayor/Liverpool controversy at the Emirates its a yellow card tops.

    Great thread <Ale>

Dunno about that. But I'm assuming from the what I saw last Night, you guys managed to put Denilson back together again after the P-UNIT went hunting for him, caught him, slaughtered him, cleaned & seasoned him, cooked him, put him on a skewer, ate him, then went to the loo & excreted him, stood up & looked at what was left of the poor lad, and finally said his prayers and flushed!
