    Totti Empty Totti

Post by Tweesus Mon Apr 02, 2007 10:14 am

    What an idiot!

Today he's slammed English football and all because SAF didn't mention him as one of the Roma players that he's identified as dangermen.

    He said:

    - That he didn't rate English football despite the fact that some good players play there
    - He didn't like English football
    - He didn't like the English weather

I didn't think it was possible but my estimations of him have reached an all time low! How unprofessional can you be? Does he take private tutoring wih Robert Kilroy Silk?

In my opinion he is an overrated player in Italy as well

He has been in the past, though this season he seems to have pulled the rabbit out the hat in the league at least, maybe down to his abandonment of the national team.

He is clearly an idiot though, i hope Roma crash and burn on Wednesday

It must just be the designated day for Roma players to criticise English football. Montella has slated the passion of English supporters, 'In England it’s like they’re going to the theatre.'

    http://www.channel4.com/sport/football_italia/apr1j.html

I wouldn't take much notice of what Totti has to say. As good a player as he is, he often ends up talking rubbish. I can't understand why players come out with such comments before a game, the only thing it can do is fire up the opposition and increase the expectation on Totti to put in a good performance.

I'm surprised Montella says that - especially as the majority of Italian games never reach capacity anyhow - Fulham are hardly famed for their vociferous and loud support though are they ;)

He's probably just a bit dissappointed that when he scores none of the crowd cry tears of joy... English men are too Gentlemanly to show such emotions about something so petty

Montella's comments are fair enough, they are just his personal opinion, although I don't necessarily agree with him. It seems that Roma players are trying to put pressure on Man Utd through the media today. Panucci and Mancini have both come out and criticised Ronaldo for diving and say that he won't get 'protected' by the referee in Rome like he normally does. Wish players didn't come out with all this rubbish before games, it's completely unnecessary.

Thats ridiculous! Ronaldo doesn't dive any more than Totti does and at least Ronaldo has a few braincells and says the right things in interviews and acts professionally off the pitch.

And Ronaldo is the only player in the utd team that really does play to the referee - unlike Roma who are full of cheating manipulative bastards.

Maybe Ronaldo should come out and say that the referee won't take too kindly to De Rossi's elbowing tactics, then mayeb diss his mum so that he complately loses it in the game Wink Ronaldo won't though - on his own hes more professional off the pitch than half the Roma team, not bad for a player reputedly unprofessional on the pitch

I was going to post this, when I read it. What a weirdo. scratch

Tweeds, you didn't even post the worst bit.......

Totti expects to be man-marked by United in the first-leg clash in Rome.

The World Cup winner jeered: “So they are going to put me in a cage? Opponents always make a cage for me.

“When I grow up I won’t be a footballer but I will work at the zoo with all the cages people have made for me.”

He was just stating a preference. He doesn't like English football--many technical players don't.

And I'm sorry, the weather must be hell for him coming from Rome.

Come on Tweeds you are taking this way too seriously. It's only Totti man. In Italy he is quite a risible character.

But going mental because Fergie didn't mention him as the danger man (he said nothing bad about Totti at all, just didn't mention him) is very weird.

& the comments about the cage are almost Cantona like.

so Montella's opinion is slightly skewed. Perhaps he wouldnt think that had he been at anfield on Saturday?

Totti - silly pr*ck. Talented player, but no loss that he dislikes England, he'd more than likely sturggle in the Premiership because he'd get no time on the ball whatsoever like he does in italy; Roma have constantly been gubbed in his time against English opposition (leeds, liverpool, Arsenal) because the likes of Alan Smith crashing into Italy's golden boy and showing him no respect like he gets around Italy is alien to him.

It may only be Totti but its just completely unneccessary of him to say what he did - and its hardly as though the rest of the Roma players have been acting professional either, jez, I thought the Barca players were bad enough but this is a new low

Am I the only one who thinks these type of comments are good for the game? I think they're partly what make the sport interesting. I very much prefer that over the usual mutual brown-nosing that goes on between teams before they face each other. I admire players who speak big before games because they're well aware that their comments could fall flat on their face after the tie is finished. It does take some courage to do that.

Of course, a lot of the time it is also stupidity. I would also get angry if another player starts insulting La Liga before they face Madrid or another Spanish team. But in the end I would still like this big talk to keep going on. It adds more tension to the matches that are played.

He is far more talented than any English player, but I take your point that he hasn't performed against English sides.

beat me too it. i love when we get some firing comments.today players say nothing and coaches say nothing. he is stating his opinion and im glad that he did it. for once a player has the courage to put pressure on himself instead of saying something like i want to do my best. allthough i want coaches to open more up.

Have you even seen the treatment Totti gets in Italy? Theres a reason why he broke his ankle last season. I think he's the most fouled player in Serie A.

yeah i dont get this talk about him getting covered and taclked all over if he played in the prem. i mean i cant remember a player getting as much fouled for such a long period. anyway im still uncertain how he will perform. man utd has a light midfield so maybe he gets more room to show his stuff.

Won't he be playing up front on his own?

Considering Roma's system and the injuries in defence we have to Vidic, Silvestre, Neville and Evra a United fan on a United forum suggested this line up -

    -------------------- Van Der Sar

    --------- Brown ---- Ferdinand ---- Heinze

    ----------------------- O'Shea

    ----- Park ------ Carrick ---- Scholes ------ Ronaldo

    -------------------------- Giggs

    -------------------------- Rooney

Almost like a back three, with O'Shea sweeping up inside of the defence.

Totti is never associated with a high EQ. Or IQ for that matter. So I am not surprised that SAFs comments hurt his ego, and probably thats what the intention was in the first place.

But as a player, he has been the best player in Serie A in the last 8 years, BY MILES. 5 years ago, all top sides in Italy were ready to break the bank if Totti could be convinced to leave Roma. No one individual has had such an impact on Serie A since Roberto Baggio. He is also the most fouled player in Serie A, year on year, for many years now. Infact he is usually the most fouled player in every competition he plays, including this seasons CL. That shows that his opponents respect his abilities, and are probably scared of it. And they should be. Take Totti out, and Roma will probably colapse against ManU. No one who follows Serie A will doubt his obvious ability.

The cage and zoo comments are meant as a joke, he has a wierd sense of humour... did I mention a low IQ? Smile

To be honest, Totti seems complete crap verses EPL opposition - english teams have completley owned the guy whenever we've faced him - IMO the Utd defence will struggle much more with Mancini - he has a bit more of an X-facto about him
