If and perhaps when ManU win the league and perhaps F.a Cup. (not to mention the CL) There will have to be someone in the team that deserves the player of the season....So the nomination of Vidic isn't such a laughing mention.

What if Liverpool do not win anything this year (they have the CL and the unlikely League to go for), in that sense making Gerrard player of the season will not be the wisest choice.

Point, wait till the end of the season, because it all hinges on whom are more successful and which player made that success ultimatly possible...

Well last season Ronaldo was rightly player of the year because whichever team had Ronaldo in it was going to win the league. This season it boils down to refereeing decisions being the deciding factor.

I don't know if anyone has taken the time to look into the different refereeing decisions that have gone in United's favour, but I'd wager they have been gifted 5-10 points this season.

So by last season's criteria, the player of the season this year is: The referees Ale

Let's just be happy that because :keegan: had the balls to confront the refs earlier in the season Saturday (ie a fair game) was allowed to prevail

Vidic is an excellent player, but someone who gets so horribly and ruthlessly massacred does not deserve any individual awards imo and there are simply no other candidates from united, aside from the one you mention of course.

For the majority of the season Petrov has played very well ok But he has no chance of being mentioned, let alone winning it. Only Villa players who will get a mention are obviously A.Young, Whore and Barry.. possibly Friedel as well.

he hasn't been poor, he has had 3 or 4 bad games all season. The difference with such a player is that you notice much more when they have a bad game and when they have a good game you barely notice them.

Glenn for the first few months he was very poor. He even admitted this in a interview back in October, remember reading it on the Liverpool website. He did say what I and many thought though, the Olympics being a factor on his performances. Have to remember he has played an awful lot of football since he joined us on loan from West Ham incl. Copa America and again Olympics... so no real suprise to see him have an off patch.

He has been back to his usual awesome self in the last couple of months though.

Definetely not ahead of Alonso or Gerrard for me when it comes to getting a mention in this or any awards based on this season though.

Btw, Insua would have won Young Player of the Year no doubt, if he didn't leave for the shitty youth tourney Razz

the first few months of the season we were unbeaten, he didn't produce many match winning performances but he wasn't, as you put it, very poor. You want to have a look at what Lucas is capable of in a 15 minute cameo if you want to see what very poor looks like.

Yeah, and even if he was good, he's hardly even played! It's like someone getting a "Best Actor" Oscar for a 15 minute role in a movie.

    Anthony Hopkins

His most famous role is the cannibalistic serial killer Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs (for which he won the Academy Award for Best Actor in 1992) opposite Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling, who also won for Best Actress. In addition, the film won Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay. It is the shortest lead acting Oscar-winning performance ever, as Hopkins is only on the screen for about sixteen minutes.

Of course, Giggs has been nowhere near as impressive as Lecter Smile

Goals are not everything. It took a goal for people to start the bandwagon, similar to Gerrard being the best player in the world after a hat trick. It was two pens & a free kick ffs. Both were in great form im not sure if the press are fickle and make these articles after such things or they think they cant write articles untill such things cause people are too fickle. Goals aren't everything I never said they were. Yes I did use an example of one being a goal but I did say that was all I remembered.

Me mentioning Alonso has the person I'd give the award, as stated numerous times in this thread, match threads and the Liverpool thread are prime examples of me being not concerned with main stats i.e. goals and assists.

Fact is he(Giggs) has barely played compared to the rest and has come off the bench numerous times. As for his MOTM peformances vs Chelsea, big whoop. Gerrard and my man Alonso have put in likewise and consistently.

Gerrard was being noticed for being a candicate before his performance vs Villa you mong. Even before the United and Real games by many people, supporters and media.

It's factual COTR. Nothing but rave reviews for Gerrard after the hat trick, if he wasn't on set pieces i doubt it'd be half what it has been this week. Don't quote a small part...IMO he is in great form and deserves the praise he is getting. But if Torres was on pens in the last game then it wouldn't be what it is
