But will the risk pay off? Fergie's gambled before and it's payed off but surely it's going to be far more difficult for United to score goals this year?

So Fergie is taking a risk after selling the best player in the world plus fans favourite Tevez and only getting in a Wigan midfielder and a 29 year old past it striker
But will the risk pay off? Fergie's gambled before and it's payed off but surely it's going to be far more difficult for United to score goals this year?

I would expect them to be contenders in the League Cup simply down to he size of their squad and the individuals they have capable of winning such games against low key opposition, Nani looks awesome against Championship sides. Probably worth noting though that Ronaldo and Tevez scored 8 of their 13 goals in the competition last season.
Valencia wont be a replacement for Ronaldo as much as an alternative to Park or Feltcher in the RM, RCM position. Maybe Momo Siswelbeck will score Ronaldo's goals, or Anderson, but it wont be Valencia. Owen is going to retire on September 1st. It will be hilarious.
I think they'll finish top 4, just, and semi finals of everything else.

Its not just the loss of Tevez and Ronaldo. Its also the deterioration of Giggs and Scholes. Before the sale of Ronaldo and Tevez, Utd needed to invest in their central midfield IMO. For Utd to bridge the gap, Hargreaves will need to stay fit all season and Anderson will need to become far more consistent. This is possible IMO, but its far from guaranteed so the dury is still out there.
Regarding the attack, its clearly nowhere near as fearsome as it once was BUT now Ronaldo has gone, the others WILL score more. Ronaldo was incredibly selfish and the team was built in effect, to serve him for the past two/three seasons. His absense will present a lot more goalscoring opportunities for Utd's other attacking players. They won't bridge the gap in goals though and UTd might well struggle more than they have in the past to break down teams that park the bus.
IMO Utd will do well to come 2nd in the league, win either the league cup or FA cup and get to the CL semis. IMO bearing in mind the loss of Tevez and Ronaldo, that would represent a GOOD season.
Its difficult to call though. I don't know what impact the absense of Ronaldo will have. Will the lack of selfishness improve the opportunities for the other players? To a degree, yes, but to what degree? I don't know...

They had a pretty successful season last time, with Scholes playing minimal role and Giggs, despite awards, only playing about half the games. I am surprised they haven't brought in another CM, but they haven't been reliant on Scholes/Giggs for a while.
Key elements for them will be: Rooney staying fit and either Berbatov stepping up or Owen remembering how to score.

It was reasonably successful Debbie but they got found out against Barca because they didn't have the neccessary work ethic in the centre. Although now they've sold Ronaldo, maybe their expectations are lower?
To be the best team in Europe again though, its certainly an area that needs improving. They don't need to spend a single penny on the defence though

COTR stop behaving like the pikey you are, the actual quote is:
"Do you think I would enter into a contract with that mob?. "No chance. I would not sell them a virus. That is a 'no' by the way. There is no agreement whatsoever between the clubs somewhat."

The strong defence more or less guarantees a top 4 finish, and a good / acceptable season in Europe. To actually win titles however, not even mentioning the 'treble', Man United need more quality than that, particularly in Europe.

Valencia's the real deal guys - you'll see.
One point people fail to realise all to often with United is how often opposing teams end up playing the badge rather than the 11 players infront of them. The fear factor really does play a part even when United don't have the best team in the league and for that reason I don't think they'll have any trouble finishing in the top three.
BUT
It is getting to a stage now where Chelsea and Liverpool have a vastly superior squad to United's and strengthening is definately needed for them to have chance.
And on a random note i've got a feeling Anderson'll get 5-10 goals this season - don't ask me why but i've got a funny feeling in my toe about that.
