Arsenal proofed it many times it is a huge advantage to play european style... Only if you have the right players for it!
But Chelsea don't have the right players for it!

Champions league is priority clearly...
I have my doubts over Ancelotti when it comes to the league for reasons already mentioned. Don't think he'll be as much as a fail as Scolari was though.

When have Arsenal played anything like Milan and won?

If we all started right now then we'd win the league for sure.
IMO United and Chelsea will both sign at least one more top quality player before the end of the window and we'll lose Alonso to Madrid so it's up to Rafa to plan for this situation.
Think United will win the league again, Chelsea will win the champions league, Liverpool will finish second with a domestic cup.

I wouldn't mind letting someone else have a bit of glory for a change we don't want it to get too boring... just not Pool.

Can't see the referees switching sides just yet and don't we all just know Rooney is going to have the season of his life

Could have serious repercussions for England if Rooney ends up having the season of his life. He'll definitely get injured or suffer burn out of some kind

Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal are the favourites, Manchester United, Spurs and Man City will be in their own little race for 4th.
That's as it stands, but the transfer window isn't shut yet and all that could change. It's not even the middle of July FFS!

Won't happen, of that I'm almost certain.
Last season Chelsea endured a change of manager, the loss of their best player to relatively long term injury, the loss of their second best player to fitness and form problems, and the loss of Joe Cole, another very good player, to long term injury. Despite this they were never really out of the title race, did well in Europe until the best player in the world forgot how to clear the ball, and won the FA cup. They have a very good first team and a very good squad too, and whether the Italian works out or not they are the favourites in my eyes.

He's a cup manager, his performances in the league with Milan were average at best. I don't think he will last the season.
They weren't the best but I wouldn't say average. Remember there was Juve and then the corruption scandal.
imo the favorites are Chelsea, Liverpool, Man United and Arsenal in that order. Man City doesn't have a coach and Villa or Everton are too week to beat the big 4. My only hope is Tottenham. The have a very good team but they will need a bit of luck (injuries).

We'll need everything to come together perfectly like it did for 37 games of 2005-06 to stand a chance.
Arshavin will keep Arsenal in the top 4.

This year looks very close, there are 4 teams with squads who you could quite conceivably see winning the league, and then theres Manchester City to put a cat amongst the pigeons.
United have to be strong favourites, with the vast majority of players having the mentality to win the league. Whether with Ronaldo and Tevez gone they lack quality remains to be seen.
If Liverpool retain all their players, then they are likely to be there or there abouts, particularly if Torres and Gerrard can compete for a full season together.
Chelsea - who knows what the Ancelotti affect will have on the team. They are still very strong as a unit of players... will definately benefit from Joe Cole being available once he is.
Arsenal - Will have Asharvin from the start, who looked very impressive, are looking to add players to key defensive and midfield positions. Again if fitness prevails for Arsenal and they can bring in the right players, they have a fantastic chance.
Would love to see a real four horse race this year, would be great to watch.

His mistake was to have Shevchenko as one of his strikers. You don't win league titles with a player like him in any serious league.
Chelsea have not won a single league title since they registered him as one of their strikers(mind u they looked like they'll go on to win another 2 PL titles on the trot before they bough him).
And now it looks like Carlo is willing to welcolme "Sheva" back after his disastrous loan spell at Milan
Some people never learn.

Why do you think this exactly? Before he moved to Chelsea his goalscoring record in Serie A was phenomenal!

Only if they can keep their key players (e.g. Alonso and Mascherano), because they won't be easy to replace.
And even then it would still be a close race, because no one knows how strong Chelsea will be under Ancelotti (they are the only big four club that has invested heavily this summer, and likely will continue to do so), if Ferguson still manages to form a winning team despite losing key players (and apparently, not (fully) replacing them), if Ferguson was actually lying and United will sign players in the coming weeks, and last but not least, if Arsenal sign someone with pubic hair.
And then there is Manchester City, who are outspending everyone else. But I'm rather sceptical that they can be a real threat with their current manager in charge.

Only scored ONE goal vs Juve away from home in nearly a decade for Milan - that's all u need to know about him.
And he wasn't that brilliant, consistent goal scorer in the league many would have u believe he was.

Chelsea, Pool and Utd have spent very similar amounts so far, although Utd have obviously sold where Chelsea and Pool haven't.blutgraetsche wrote:Only if they can keep their key players (e.g. Alonso and Mascherano), because they won't be easy to replace.

Chelsea have made an official bid for Ribery (~€50m), seem to be very interested in Ibrahimovic and Pirlo. I probably should have been more clear, they are the only big four club that seems to be willing to spend big this summer.

They wont get Ribery or Ibrah. Pirlo is a possibility but a big risk in the EPL. If we're going on bids then Terry could be off also. To be honest Chelsea have an ageing team they bought one good player and Cole is back but something doesn't bother me about their team. Still say they'll do better than Pool though.

Arsenal of course have a chance and like FG I'd love to see a 4 horse race.
Arsenal have quality strikers and some talented midfielders but it's at the back they lack, they've just signed a new defender for a hefty sum and if he impresses then they could be a force.
The keeper has always been a slight problem with Arsenal in these last few years though. I don't think Almunia or Fabianski are at the level of Cech, Reina and VDS just yet and are more prone to errors.
Still think Arsenal haven't replaced Pires on the left of that midfield and if Fabregas stays he needs to step up to the hype.

They won't get Ribery indeed, because he only seems to want to move to Spain, and only to Real Madrid. And he would be very expensive. I mentioned him to emphasise Chelsea's willingness to spend big - they are the only club that has actually made an official bid for Ribery so far.
But I wouldn't be too sure when it comes to Ibrahimovic, I can see him leaving Inter, and Inter selling him if Chelsea are willing to spend big.
Pirlo in the EPL is simply another unknown factor. Nobody can say if and how good we could adapt.
Chelsea next season are the the big unknown. Their team isn't young, but very experienced and full of quality players. Their manager has a very good reputation, but has never worked outside of Italy. And they likely are going to add more players (and lose some) in the coming weeks.
