Such a shame he got injured. Such a composed and initelligent player for his age. Hopefully he can get his career back on track and lose that weight

So you actually believe he's been out for a year with a groin strain? How delightfully gullible.

ok There's been quite a few solid rumours going round that Johnson missed last season because of extra curricular activities.

lol! I gave up on his ass a long time ago, and he doesn't know about it! Biggrin <Ale>

Regarding Michael Johnson, Citeh began signing much more talented midfield players it's obvious. <Ale>

The MLS quality (now) is as shite as the bottom half teams in the EPL. The Hulls, Wigans, Stokes...have absolutely nothing on MLS top half. The difference is that MLS is improving. In the end, everyone will see what they want to see. Biggrin <Ale>

    Elano, Petrov.

Petrov is a pace merchant and Elano can't play in the middle as he's as weak as a little girl.

Biggrin I agree with you Kimbo bro, yet they're much better players than Johnson will ever dream of becoming. Sad but true story.

I genuinely hope I'm wrong and that Johnson can make his comeback, play a 'good' game against the bottom teams, score even a goal against any of theese bottom 12 teams, get hyped in the media and on and on. Biggrin <Ale>

I don't think he's been hyped yet. It just the same old formula the media uses with these players. He ticks all the boxes for the English media:

Yeah, that's why bullshit like Walcott and Heskey get in the England squad, because we love our whiteys.

To be fair to the lad, he did look to have massive potential in the 07-08 season. I don't think staying at Citeh would be sensible for him now though. He should move to a club like Wigan or Sunderland

Seems his knees couldn't handle his new bulk No

Man City's Michael Johnson set to miss rest of season

Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson could be out for the rest of the season after picking up a knee injury in training.

The 21-year-old had only recently returned to City's squad after missing almost a year of action with an abdominal problem.

Johnson is expected to find out the full extent of his injury in the next few days.

"We are all disappointed for Michael," said City boss Mark Hughes.

"He has worked so hard to get back into first-team contention and shown everyone what a good player he is."

Hughes added: "Unfortunately he might be out for the season but he will receive the best possible care and attention."

Johnson, who has represented England Under-21s, has played 45 times for City but his career has been hampered by injury.

Since recovering from his long-term abdominal injury, Johnson has made two appearances for City this season and scored against Scunthorpe in his side's 5-1 defeat of Scunthorpe in the Carling Cup.

Hughes has included Johnson on the bench in recent games, but his only Premier League action this season has been as a 89th-minute replacement for Gareth Barry in City's 3-1 win over West Ham in August.

Johnson is a product of City's Academy and was captain of the team that finished runners-up in the 2006 FA Youth Cup.

It looks to me like he's going to be one of those players, like Walcott, who just never puts together a run of performances. When young players get loads of different injuries one after another, it just looks like they might not be built for the intensity of top level football, no matter how much talent they have.

I can't off the top of my head think of any players who went on to play consistently well for sides for years having spent the early part of their career suffering injury after injury, but if anyone can prove me wrong on that one, throw any suggestions down!
