Sevilla look like they have great team this season, especially on the wings; Navas, Alfaro, Perrotti. Zokora also played well - see the third goal.

I'm sure they won about 24 - 0 in another pre-season a couple of years ago.

    Colemanar Viejo 0 Atletico 3

Cleber Santana, Domínguez, and Pacheco all score for Atletico. Reyes and Jurado both back from loan are getting good reviews in these first few friendlies.

Was watching parts of this match, Atletico looked quite good, esp. Raul Garcia. And the Saviola-Cardozo partnership looks promising for Benfica...it's probably a record for the biggest height difference between strike partners.

    Den Haag 1 Valencia 4

Nacho Gonzalez, David Navarro, Michel, and Jordi Alba all score for Valencia. Manuel Fernandes back in action which is good news for Valencia. They also had two canteranos, Olcina and Miku, in the team that started the match.

    Vilamalla 0 Villarreal 10

Jonathan Pereira hits 3 more for the yellow submarine; Pires with three, Llorente with two, Marcos Ruben, and Fuster also scored. Will be interesting to see how they fair when they start playing some decent competition.

    San Roque 0 Athletic 1

Etxeberria from the penalty spot in the last minute...nearly as bad as waiting to beat Shamrock Rovers in the 86th minute with a long ball. Biggrin

    Hoffenheim 1 Getafe 2

Goals by Celestini and Sardinero (19 year old kid from the B team); incidentally Parejo will join up with the team today.

    Oberhausen 1 Racing 0

    Palencia 0 Zaragoza 4

Two goals by Uche and two by Francisco Pavon! cheers Pennant with two assists.

    Almeria 10 Cartagena 0

Doesn't look good for Cartagena who are newly promoted to the second division.

Saw a bit of this, Sevilla didn't look to convincing. They really need Kanoute back. And the third kit is really hideous.

    Saw the Sunderland-Atletico match.

Sunderland were quite good, though Bruce needs to buy some backup creative midfielders, because Malbranque and Richardson aren't going to stay fit throughout the season.

Atletico couldn't deal with Kenwyn Jones, and Reyes and Varela were shit (nothing new there). Abel played an odd formation, with Simao attacking through the middle and Sinama on the right flank. Forlan and Aguero (both played a half each I think) still their best players. Raul Garcia had a decent game too.

Reyes is still shit. Pongolle is even worse. I think Maxi has been a bit ordinary in the last season or two, but he's still leagues above Pongolle.

Just watching them against Arsenal in the first half (have stopped watching now), but they have NO midfield. This was the same last season, and the season before, etc - and they have done nothing to change it. Raul Garcia is a decent box-to-box CM - but he isn't great at retaining possession or creating for the strikers. Assuncao is just woeful, and when you wingers like Pongolle and Reyes who are useless it just makes it even worse.

In the first half you had Forlan playing as a DLP just trying to get the ball.

If Valencia can keep their squad together, I'd say (on paper) they're probably the third strongest side in La Liga, with Villarreal running them very close.

i would agree, and if they get emana they will be even stronger, if emery can get the best out of them this season they should qualify for the CL.
