Chevanton Helps Sevilla To Narrow Friendly Win Over Conil

The Andaluz outfit were largely unconvincing in their second pre-season outing…

Sevilla continued their preparations for the 2009 Peace Cup with an unconvincing 1-0 win over regional Andalucian side Conil.

The Rojiblancos had to make do without their big guns up-front, Luis Fabiano and Frederic Kanoute, but they still lined-up with a reasonably strong outfit which included Diego Capel, Adriano, Jesus Navas and new signing Didier Zokora.

But it was Javier Chevanton who scored the only goal of the game, through a direct free kick half an hour into the contest.

There was little fluidity or cohesion in Sevilla’s football and their hosts came close to drawing level in the first half. Manolo Jimenez’s side failed to improve after the restart and Conil again had an opportunity to stun their illustrious guests in the second period.

Los Nervionenses barely threatened to increase their winning margin as they happily held on for a scrappy 1-0 win. The performance and result is a sharp contrast to their 7-0 demolition of Rotena last Saturday in their pre-season friendly opener.

Sevilla will kick-off their Peace Cup campaign against Juventus on July 24.

Sevilla Line-up: Palop – Adriano, Squillaci, Escude, Dragutinovic – Perotti, Zokora, Rentao, Capel – Alfaro, Chevanton

Subs Used: Jesus Navas, Duscher, Lolo, Carreno, Fernando Navarro, Jose Carlos, Casado, Armenteros

Sevilla are out of The Peace Cup after a 0-0 draw with Seongnam Chunma.

Substitute Chevanton came closest, hitting the post.

How much do you think he'd cost? How well would he do in the SPL if Rangers or Celtic could afford him?

I reckon he'd be like a Larsson type figure if he came to the SPL.

@ Bulk Chevanton would piss the SPL - would cost about £3m I think but probably wouldn't go to Scotland.

Samaras is very misunderstood - he can't finish for shit but he is very talented and good physically.

Diet Zlatan rather than an out and out Striker.

Mowbray should play him just off Fortune and use him as the main creator in attack - he isn't as creative as Naka obviously but then he would be a lot harder to mark/nulify than Naka cos of his size and reasonable pace.

    http://www.as.com/futbol/articulo/futbol-salida-inminente-chevanton-acerca/dasftbpri/20090729dasdaiftb_16/Tes

So, maybe a one year loan at River Plate for Chevanton? His agent claims there are offers from Spain, England and Germany though.

Bologna Consider Swoop For Sevilla’s Chevanton

The Italian outfit could be set to begin strengthening...

Bologna's rebuilding programme looks set to include a move for Sevilla striker Ernesto Chevanton, according to a report.

The Italian club were bought out recently by Albanian tycoon Rezart Taci and have money to spend as they aim initially to stay in Serie A and then qualify for Europe.

That ambition will be helped with the addition of experience, the new board have stated, and Chevanton is seen as having the right profile for Bologna's plans.

Despite stating that he would like to stay with Sevilla next term, the Andalucian outfit have made it clear that he will again play a bit-part role, El Correo de Andalucia states.

Instead, a return to Serie A could be in the offing, and Chevanton could relish the challenge as he was a huge success during a three-year stint with Lecce between 2001 and 2004.

Two seasons with Monaco persuaded Sevilla to take him to Spain, but he has failed to win a regular place ahead of Frederic Kanoute or Luis Fabiano at the Sanchez Pizjuan.

Sevilla Unlikely To Sell Ernesto Chevanton

Los Nervionenses cannot find a suitor for the Uruguayan

It appears that Ernesto Chevanton will stay at Sevilla next season, as the Andalucian club are having a hard time selling the striker.

Argentine outfit San Lorenzo and Italian side Bologna were both rumoured to be interested, but according to a report on Goal.com Spain, el Ciclon cannot afford the asking price for Chevanton.

Bologna also enquired about the Uruguayan's availability some weeks ago, but the Rossoblu have since added Marcelo Zalayeta to their squad to compete with Marco Di Vaio, who scored 24 goals in Serie A last year.

If the directors of los Rojiblancos do not lower the asking price for the former Lecce hitman, the club may be forced to loan out Chevanton.

This would reignite San Lorenzo's interest, since Chevanton is some way down the pecking order at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, and Diego Simeone's side are currently struggling financially.

    Anthony Wright, Goal.com

    hmmm...

    * Chevanton is way down the pecking order at Sevilla

    * Pantaleo Corvino is the director of football at Fiorentina - the same role he had at Lecce when they signed Chevanton

    * Sevilla have shown interest in Kuzmanovic who has requested a transfer from Fiorentina

    * Fiorentina were linked with Chevanton this summer.

I hope between them they do the sensible thing ok
