    http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/30072009/58/top-50-players-9-wayne-rooney.html

for me rooney is a media bubble, who delivers nothing "special" to the football world (yeah everyone praise hes working rate for the team, but who the fack cares, does anybody rate Kuyt in the football world besides LIVERPOOL fans!), why the hell the whole world including every single "top player of 2009" list rank him in the top 10 or 20 (ok this article is clearly baised because eto, zlatan and iniesta behind rooney)

    1. is it because he plays for MANU
    2. is it because he plays for an attacking side and he dont score more goals then some midfielder do in the entire season;)
    3. is it the english language, and the hype that created by the media in the language number 1 in the world?

tell me your opinion about rooney

I'm interested to know what you base your opinion of rooney on.

    So Let me ask you:

    1) Do you watch much Premier League football?

    2) Have you seen any recent England games?

If you've answered "yes" to both these questions and still don't rate Rooney, then you're probably retarded.

If the answer is "no" and you base your opinion on England's 2006 World Cup when Rooney was injured playing alone upfront, or on the one United game you caught this year (the European Cup final Vs Barcelona where Rooney played very poorly), then understandable. My response would be to watch more of him before forming a typically anti-English opinion.

Were you aware by the way that Rooney is the top goalscorer in World Cup qualifying in Europe? Or the second highest scorer at United behind Ronaldo last season? Probably not I'm guessing.

Rooney is a PR nightmare, he's ugly, he's stupid, he can barely speak English. He makes reckless challenges, swears all the time and sleeps with old prostitutes.

Yet DESPITE this he is a superstar

Excellently put Glenn. You've still got it son.

Rooney will not make teenage girls buy his posters or homosexuals buy his aftershave. He appeals only to a small niche of grannies who wear PVC. Yet he is still a formidable footballing icon.

The reason is simple - he is a formidable player. and still only 23.

And in the meantime, our German friend(s) have hyped up Podolski, Gomez, Klose et al to the heavens, all of whom have failed to live up to expectation far more than Rooney has done so far in his career, and then have the nerve to suggest Rooney is overhyped. Glass houses mein freund Ale

Rooney is better than any German player in circulation. Try actually composing an intelligent post once in a while.

No German player can come close to Rooney currently. The guy is strong, scores goals, and sets them up. On top of that he always sacrifices himself for the team. He has also won more than any German player his age.

Podolski, Schweini are not fit to lace Rooney's boots.

    You are just jealous.

I agree with you to an extent.

But Italy also lifted the World Cup in your backyard (beating you in the process), and, last time I checked, Milan owned Bayern in competitive games (not friendlies). Also, last time I checked Luca Toni was the leading scorer in the Bundesliga in the 2007-08 season (also he has scored 38 goals in 56 games for Bayern, hardly the return of a second-rate striker). You see, you let your petty agendas get the better of the football judgement you have.

That may all change because the future of Italian football is bleak. However, this thread was about Rooney, and the fact remains that he has won more than any German player playing currently. He is a solid player, who you vilify because your anti-English bias consumes you at every turn. I understand the rivalry, but how can you deny Rooney's quality?

and i am not talking that he is shit, i am talking that he is not special (ok for english standards he may look special, he have some hints of vision and brain), but c.ronaldo outshined him the last years

    Rolling Eyes

I think this is the crux of the problem - you find it hard to accept that there are English players out there who are actually pretty decent. English "standards" also include the likes of Gerrard, Terry, Ferdinand, and Ashley Cole who all seemed to perform to a standard as good as if not better than most players in Europe last season for club and country,

and let's not forget Lampard, who outshone Michael Ballack at Chelsea. Again. Ronaldo may have outshone Rooney in your eyes, but then he is the acclaimed best player in the World.

So I ask you this, what's so special about Michael Ballack that a player as limited as Fat Frank owns him season after season under not one but FOUR managers? 3,2,1: Go!
