Spanish Super Cup

The Spanish season gets sort of under way tonight in the first leg of the Spanish Super Cup.

This is as everywhere usually between the league and cup winners, but since Barcelona won both, the cup runners up get a go at it again. It would have been more interesting to have had the league runners up try their luck with their expensively assembled new squad, but no, apparently the cup runners up have earned it more it seems.

Tonight Athletic Bilbao and Barcelona meet in Bilbo.
Barcelona missing Ibrahimovic and Iniesta still while Marquez will also be out. Add to that serious doubts about Messi and Henry and the first XI picks itself since there aren't a great deal of options available.

Probably Barcelona line-up:

kick off is 22:00H local time, which is 2100H here in Blightey.

if Athletic Bilbao had any sense of fairness, they'd let us win this tie. Surely, as double winners we should have the trophy by default.

Well apart from the low cross and the goal then I am pretty satisfied.. Still havent started the season, a second rate attack and we could still have been easily up by two or three..

Yeah, i'm pleased as well the way we play, we should have scored from those 3,4 chances that we had.
Even the goal was a YT mistake and a deflection from Puyol, but nevertheless it's a good game from us.

I actually thought it was a bit strange last week when they could bring 5-6 subs on at the Charity Shield, considering it's an official game.
