and they fucked it up... christ.. there is no justice in this world.

As for Hildebrand then they might as well just play without a keeper and put another defender on. I don't think he has made a single save.

And Vicente puts Valencia ahead again.. Good to see him back.

VdV has been fairly anonymous, and has been playing mostly like a defensive midfielder, like the rest of the Madriz midfield. He has taken a few set pieces but that is about it.

I don't think he is out of position. It is just that this Schuster team doesn't like the ball much, so they end up defending quite a lot.

    FT 3-2

(Ruud, Mata, Villa, Ruud and finally Vicente)

Deserved win that should have been larger. Madriz did create a few chances but not much compared to Valencia.

    lol!

Yeah... let's just say that.. I thought we were much stronger the two last seasons too, and look what it brought us.

I guess it will be between us, Madriz, Villarreal, Sevilla and maybe Valencia and Atletico. But seriousely then I would only put money on ourselves or madriz. Both Villarreal and Altetico are going to find it tough with European football. Valencia is an unknown quantity and while Sevilla is good on paper they have lost quite a few players.

It seemed as if Schuster just set up the team to lose. I still can't believe what Schuster did in this game in terms of the lineup and the substitutions.

He puts in Salgado, Torres, and Javi Garcia in defense to deal with a striker like David Villa!!! At the very least he could have put in Metzelder as CB so Torres could play RB and Salgado to the bench.

It also took Schuster 70 minutes to take off Raul, who had done absolutely NOTHING all game. No surprises there though, since I've been used to this type of Raul performance for 4 seasons and counting.

But instead of putting in Higuain, he puts in Guti, leaving VDV, De la Red, and Guti all looking for spaced but without anyone to run to them besides Robben and Ruud.

I wouldn't read too much into this game though. We made Valencia look like a great team simply because of Schuster's lineup. The back 4 seemed like a practical joke and the substitutions didn't make much sense.

This game may have just been a blessing in disguise, because it strongly hinted that if we make no more signings, we can forget about the CL. We might still win the league because it's easier to withstand injuries in the long term. But if a Roma - type situation arises (where Robben, Robinho, Ramos, Guti missed one or both legs and Ruud wasn't matchfit), it's all over. You only need one bad game in the CL to be eliminated.

I still think we're strong favorites to win the league though. When Gago, Marcelo, Pepe, Cannavaro and Ramos start, there will be a lot less to worry about. But to challenge in the CL, we need Garay to come this season and another forward to be signed at the very least.

I agree with that part. One thing that was very clear was that the players were leaving everything in the field, fighting for every ball like their lives depended on it. It was a nice contrast to last year when your players spent most of the game strolling around the field looking like they couldn't care less.

I thought it was quite clear when Schuster brought Raul (finally) that he was going to just hold out for the 2-2.

There was no coordination at the back. I thought Torres had an outstanding match all-around. Heinze was good in the first half but poor in the second. Javi Garcia is still not a central defender and Salgado was a nightmare as usual.

Still a good result for the 1st leg away from home. Still confident we'll lift the trophy in a weeks time.

Very true he looked like the Tores of old. hopefully he will grow with experience so we have a real alternative for Marcelo.

Regarding the game it looked much the same Cr@p as in the past couple of seasons. big trouble moving the ball from defence through midfield. allthough i dont know what is to be expected when Shuster insists on using Diarra as the ball carrier.
De La Red looked out of place and at times so did VDV allthough it was nice that they both wanted the ball. im not gonna go too hard on Shuster or the players untill the first 4-5 games of the league. it could very well be as Jaime said that he was testing the defence. that is why i kind of hoped that Valencia would win when we were ahead so they would realise that we need Garay.

Upon leaving Real Madrid's team hotel prior to today's Supercopa second leg clash against Valencia, Robinho was booed by a small group of a dozen fans. This evening more joined the chorus.. Despite announcing that he wishes to leave the club, Robinho was included in the squad by Bernd Schuster to meet Valencia this evening.

Accordingly the player's agent, Wagner Ribeiro, has assured onlookings that Robinho will fulfill his contractual obligations to Madrid. Nonetheless it is thought that the player himself is seeking an exit route that may involve buying out his own contract.

Some Madrid fans have not reacted well to this news. This morning a small band of blancos shouted at the squad as they left their hotel in an attempt to attract Robinho's attention.

This afternoon as the players arrived at the Bernabéu there were similar scenes, only with slightly more people involved. "Out, out!, "Pesetero [mercenary]!", and "Go to Chelsea!" were among the phrases used.

Schuister has yet to confirm whether or not Robinho will start tonight or be benched.

Good goal here by Silva who shoots it through the legs of Heinze. poor game so far from both sides but then again Valencia didnt need to come to Madrid and now they have it much easier. smells like another lost super cup for us which wouldnt be the worst that could happen. perhaps then they realise that we cant survive with Heinze and Metzelder as CBs.
