A fairly obscure point that sounds as if its a vague, obscure, little insignificant thing but is actually quite worrying.
I'll get started
The last time Saints conceded an equalising goal and managed to win the game was the 3-2 against Sheffield United at the end of 07/08, when we conceded an equaliser at 2-1 down and went on to win 3-2.
Since then if Saints have been winning and the opposition equalises, we have either drawn or lost the game, we've never retaken a lead once we've surrendered it.
A worrying point as what sent us down last season were the countless 1-1s at home where we were by far the better team and should have won (just like what we've had yesterday). Unfortunately the problem isn't just the inability to keep the lead but the inability to regain it. It signifies a much bigger problem that Saints have at the moment in that we have a total inability to react to the change that goals bring i.e defensive opponents suddenly coming at you, an agressive opponent restreating back into its shell. Whether its us or them scoring, we just can't seem to deal with the change in the game that the goal brings.
anyway, whats a stat for your team that at first isn't on paper a massive problem but actually on closer inspection is a real worry when you give it some thought?
