Redknapp denies departure rumours Empty Redknapp denies departure rumours

Harry Redknapp has denied he is to leave Tottenham despite speculation he could become the first Premier League boss to lose his job this season.

Bookmakers slashed the odds on the Spurs manager departing White Hart Lane from 50-1 to evens at one point.

But Redknapp, who has guided Tottenham to their best start to a season for 50 years, said: "I'm definitely not leaving. It's absolute nonsense.

"I couldn't be happier. I love it here and I have no intention of leaving."

Graham Sharpe from bookmakers William Hill said: "It is probably a bandwagon effect as usual, based on unsubstantiated gossip.

"But in volatile markets of this nature you can't afford to take a chance and we are being inundated with calls from punters wanting to bet that Harry will be the first to go."

Redknapp left Portsmouth to join the London club in October 2008 after Spurs sacked Juande Ramos.

Spurs have won five of their first seven Premier League games this season and are fourth in the table.

His track record shows that he's bound to finish around midtable 8-12. He's got no staying power whatsoever, can't sustain a decent challenge over the course of a long season. That Bolton match coming up may be much much tougher than expected, then it's Portsmouth who seem to be kicking it into gear, then a gimme against Stoke, and then Arsenal, tricky Sunderland, Wigan, Aston Villa, and Everton.

Someone connected to him (a partner in crime) may have put a huge bet on him being the first manager to be gone. Harry walks with millions and with his reputation 'unblemished' saying he left Spurs in the top 4.

Portsmouth seem to be kicking it into gear? They have problems just paying their players' wages.

I think you're too hard on Redknapp. He had sustained success at West Ham (can't remember the details but I bet Deano can), won the FA cup with Pompey and had a couple of good league finishes with them. He's never going to be good enough to manage Man Utd, but how many managers are?
