They couldn't defend (something we have in common with them) but they can always pass.

You're just saying this because they're Italian, they were shithouse at the CC, and i doubt things have changed since then.

Barely, poor at set pieces, cant defend, lacklustre players...and so on. So if you wanna back Italy on the basis of 'they can pass' your funeral. They are a totally hopeless team.

Italy were shithouse in the Euros too.

I've nothing against the Italians, but they've got to be one of the Worst "post WC winning" teams in memory.

But kept out Spain for 120 mins at the Euros - how many teams could do that ?

You need to remember that International teams are poor anyway - only Spain and Brazil are really any good.

We were pretty poor yet we were the only side to stop Spain scoring and this was a CB partnership of 2 fullbacks who had never played together before.

On paper it doesn't look great for us atm, but don't underestimate Lippi's ability to get it together when the finals tournament comes round.

Dunno why you brought up the euros anyway. Shall we rule out England based on the Euros then?

One instance in a whole qualifying campaign. They just needed two last gasp goals to first beat Cyprus at home, and then get a jammy draw to a sub standard irish team. We also scored many from set pieces. Barry isn't a bad player Pierre. I dare say Barry + flumps > Kleberson + Silva. The team is tactically wiser, and Capello im sure will play it right against different oppisition. The Italians have fuck all going for them in any area of the pitch bar the keeper.

Chiellini, Pirlo, Gilardino and Iaquinta are shit Rolling Eyes

We have an attacking midfielder playing as a CM.

A CM's job is to win the ball and play the passes that control the game.

Lampard cannot do this - he is about timing runs into the box and his shooting and Barry has never even played in The CL at the age of 28.

Doesn't mean he aint a fine player Pierre, Lampard is doing a job though that one position is a slight weakness maybe.

Gilardino is shit i agree...Chiellini has made so many errors whenever ive seen him. Iaquinta might not be a bad striker but he's hardly one of the best out there and Pirlo cant do it on his own. You know they are in dire trouble with the current team.

Qualities of Pirlo? I'd rate Beckham as a better passer of the ball anyway. And Rooney + Heskey is a better partnership than those two by a long way. Then Defoe Crouch Cole all very useful in this team. Camronesi or what? lennon beckham joe cole etc. Lets not get into a silly name contest.

The current Italian team is hopeless while they may get a good result at a world cup in a certain big match i do not see any logic in naming them with potential winners, with England you most definitely can.

Rio Ferdinand has made so many errors when i've seen him.

England don't have a player with the qualities of Pirlo (please don't mention Carrick).

Its not the best Italy side, but i wouldn't rule them out so quickly, especially with a manager like Lippi.

Beckham was shite when played as DLP. He could only dream of making some of Pirlo's passes.

Rooney + Heskey = no natural goalscorer, though i admit, i do wish we had someone like Rooney upfront because we lack the creativity. Totti or Cassano please.

We won the WC with Camoranesi before.

What the hell have England proved? They breezed through an easy qualification group, but then qualification is a poor indicator of how a team will perform in the finals. All i know is that pretty much the same players were an embarassment at the last WC.

As groups go, England's contained 2 quarter finalists from the last world cup (unmatched by anywhere except the S.American qualifiers) and a team who reached QF of last Euros, but were unable even to finish 2nd here.

I think only Spain's was stronger.
