Wohoo World Cup here we go cheers

In the end it doesn´t matter if you win all qualifiers, if you win all playoffs, if you score 100 or 5 goals... what really matters is to be there. ok <Ale>

Uruguay is having a tough game. Costa Rica is not as weak as many predicted.

And they should have a players less, really nasty tackle.

Nicolás Lodeiro is really a good player. No doubt to keep an eye on him.

So tough on Costa Rica, they were less than 15 seconds from being in WC 2010 (they had practically beaten the USA) only to face CONMEBOL's fifth place team. Shocked

Another decent team that Costa Rica that doesn't go to the WC while the likes of Greece, Slovakia, Slovenia get to go, and the likes of Holland and England basically got a free pass to the WC when had they been in CONMEBOL they wouldn't even see 8th place FFS! Biggrin <Ale>

Costa Rica are a decent team. They could easily beat Euros like Sweden or Scotland. That's the problem with some Euro football fans. When you don't know, you assume it's shite, just like when Perú were THISCLOSE of KO'ing the Argies from the WC.

You instantly assume "oh Argentina are shite". Biggrin <Ale>

I think we all thought Argentina were shite due to the fact that they played shite in a number of games and were in danger of not qualifying.

At their lowest point they played peru in Lima, where Peru equalised in the 4th minute of injury time, that's how close Argentina came to winning while playing shite, and we all instantly realised just how bad Peru are, those Shite Fuckos.

Yo LRD! keep an eye on Honduras in the WC! I'm watching them play my boys now. Well, it's actually a Perú "C" vs Honduras with all their stars in Suazo, Costly, Palacios...

It's just a frigging friendly match in Miami, but them Hondurans are playing as if it's a WC qualifying match. I'm glad my boys aren't backing down and are matching them Hondurans's intensity going toe to toe with them. <Ale>

Yo TEN PERCENT! you don't know what you're talking about. You should just give up on football 'cause you don't know jack about it. Biggrin <Ale>

I think that possibly makes Honduras the weakest team at the world cup!! I'm just kidding but my opinion of them certainly hasnt gone up.

What a shit set of results.

    - Algeria go through instead of Egypt...at least the latter have some good individuals up front that can damage the top teams. But Algeria are just shit all round, they didn't deserve to win last night IMO. They'll get pummeled by most of the teams at the WC.

    - Greece at the World Cup Sleep Sleep Sleep Sleep Sleep
Seriously, their football is like a cockroach. It's disgusting to look at and you wish it would go away, but somehow it keeps surviving.

    - Slovenia through...nothing against them, but it's a pity it has to come at the expense of Russia and the exciting players they have Erm

    - Eboue's goal lol! lol! lol!

And I'm genuinely embarrassed that Thierry Henry is associated with the club I support. I wanted Ireland to go through but not at the expense of France, but unfortunately the draw didn't quite work out.

Hmmm, fair point, you got me there Embarassed

I guess in this case the difference is Henry was someone we paid big money for, while Messi is a product of the club. And I know what you (or some Real Madrid poster) will say next - "so does this mean Barça as a club produces cheats".

Poor Barca. Even with their cheats, I'd still rather watch them than Real any day!

Nigeria go through by the skin of their teeth last night. I really can't seem them making much of an impact on the big stage, they're not as strong as a few years ago when Kanu and Okocha were at their peak. They also have a pretty erratic coach, if this football blog on Nigeria's World Cup chances is to be believed. He apparently hasn't always considered winning a match to be his game plan.

It reminds me of when Sam Allardyce was interviewed a while ago and moaned, that when his team were losing 2-0, suddenly the lads got the idea into their heads they had to score 3 goals. They got caught on the break and conceded more, but I think the interviewer was a little bemused all the same. I'd have asked, "So Sam, what was your game plan at 2-0 down?"

Thanks. Although I think it's easy to be an Irish than us after that episode. It's just indefensible and above all, it is going to be painful at the competition. We will be made to look buffoons by some quality teams.

Fingers crossed Dumbo should not be at charge after WC. that's the least we deserve. It's a disgrace FFF hadn't done that after euros. Sad

You obviously don't watch Nigeria much. Granted we were lucky to go through but our main problem is complacency more than anything else.
