    Super Frank! Empty Super Frank!

    Post by S4P Tue Aug 08, 2006 8:51 pm

Frank Lampard returned to goalscoring form again with the winning goal in Chelsea's 1-0 win over Feyenord, after some excellent work from Didi Drogba and Andriy Shevchenko. Although I haven't seen the match, I said how I was pleased that Frank was showing some form again v MLS and now it appears that he raised his game once again.

Am pleased Sheva appears to have played well too in this game.

    Team:

Chelsea (4-3-3) Cudicini; Gérémi, Ferreira, Carvalho, Bridge (Terry 45); Ballack, Essien (Diarra 62), Lampard (c) (Mikel 74); Kalou (Woods 88), Shevchenko (Wright-Phillips 62), Robben (Drogba 45).

Is Kalou going to be a starter while JC is injured?

toonh, everyone knows Frank isn't world class, but I am annoyed by the abuse he gets (especially on here). He isn't a bad player, but people have been very hostile about him since the World Cup began.

I don't know mate, I assume so. The papers were suggesting that Obi Mikel was one of the best players in training so far, so I'm sure that he'll get a good run out sooner or later.

Hey, I voted for him being world class! Don't know why he gets that much stick either.

I agree with you S4P; Frank Lampard may not be 'World Class' but he is so important to Chelsea..i think most of the midfield play last season went through him.

Haven't seen this match (don't have ChelseaTV) but a work colleague of mine who does has taped it again (like the last one v MLS) so I'll watch it tomorrow.

v MLS they looked good together (considering they've never played a pro match with each other before). Lampard looked more comfortable with Ballack than he does with Gerrard. I was actually impressed with Lamps (after such an awful end to the season and then an even worse world cup).

Sounds like (from what I read today) that Drogba and Sheva also played well together when the Drog came on. Just hope he changes his hairstyle back to the way it was before though Rolling Eyes

Ballack played as a DM for Leverkusen (though more freedom to attack then he will get in the Chelsea's current system.)
