I think Liverpool don't have the money to sack Rafa. The truth is most premiership clubs probably don't have the money, the bubble is close to popping. <Ale>

Little bit harsh - considering the amount of changes in the team & that he had to wait till about the final day of the window to grab a whole bunch of players and form them into a team. They haven't got enough points, but consensus seems to be they're not playing that bad.

New manager may just undo any progress they made & they'll probably have another new team come the end of Jan (if they now have decent money flow)

Why now? Couldn't they do it earlier, or at least during international break?

Don't understand this decision...it looked like the players were behind him and they're doing about as well as you can expect with the squad they have.

Situation is still unclear as to who's taking over. Sky have apparently been in a bit of a pickle over "understanding", before proving themselves completely wrong. So 5 candidates out of Grant, Darren Ferguson, Alan Cubishley, Steve Coppell and the caretaker Paul Groves.

I don't see why Coppell or Curbishley would want it, especially given Curbishley's reluctance to work with a director of football. I reckon Grant is the most likely, although if Ferguson gets it, his first match will be against his Dad! Fun, fun...

Shockingly Grant's got the job Shocked

Nobody could have seen this coming when he was appointed director of football..

Still, it's good to have Avram back. He's quite a funny dude, what with his evil, glowering appearance.

Interesting read from this Premier League blogger on Portsmouth's relegation battle. He reckons Grant is a better appointment than Hart to keep them up. It's going to be incredibly tough for them, so I reckon wise investment in January is absolutely crucial. Charisma isn't something I would normally associate with Grant, but he's going to need every ounce of charm to persuade players to join that sinking ship! Best of luck to him, but I thought he was good at Chelsea so will be interesting to see how he gets on.
