Bolton sack Megson
I guess it was inevitable considering the fans never liked him right from the start.

Re: Bolton sack Megson
The fans were way too harsh on Megson IMHO. Yesterday was a bit of a calamity and bringing off Klasnic was a joke, but with their games in hand they could conceivably been mid table. And lets face it, any Bolton fan would take that at the end of the season. Though it has to be said, Rightly or wrongly, when the fans don't like you, they don't like you and that does affect morale throughout the club. The board really didn't have much choice.

If they've learnt there lesson they won't go near him, but they may well go after Billy Davies.

Re: Bolton sack Megson
This would be a match made in heaven for Hughes; he was out of his depth dealing with the overinflated expectation of the sheiks and wannabee galatico players but Bolton would be just about the right fit for him. Megson was loathed by the fans and players alike, while there is a certain degree of sympathy for the way he was turfed out of City. All he has to do is to keep them out of relegation and he'd be a hero. Also it's a reasonably stable club re. ownership, isn't it?

I don't think so. They had literally no reason to watch their team, it was dreadful stuff and they werent going nowhere plus he never once embraced the fans in any given way. Hope they go down anyway.

Apparently they have big debts though...would be interesting to see whether Hughes can adapt to a club with no money for transfers, after having an unlimited budget at City. He did ok with Blackburn, but they did have some money at the time.

I think he's one of those who'd do better with limited resources; he's not strong enough a character to deal with big players - Ferg, Maureen, Capello, Lippi, yes, but not Hughes. However he may now think that a club like Bolton would be a bit below him.

Re: Bolton sack Megson
My family who support Bolton are over the moon they have all wanted him out for ages as have a majority of their fans. They all seem to want Hughes but i think he would rather take a job at a bigger club with more money, i could see him waiting for a club like Newcastle if they come up with cash. Thing is it depends on how long he wants to be out the game at job is not available and might well not be in the summer, whilst jobs at similar sized clubs look secure.

Re: Bolton sack Megson
Feel bad for him because he had no clue as to how to utilize some players, and he had some talent there. Admittedly they're no world beaters, but any manager with a little bit of knowledge of the game can use players like Shittu, Riga, Elmander.
Megson is just like Hughes relatively speaking. The talent at Citeh overwhelmed Hughes, and the 'talent' at Bolton did the same for Megson. How could that guy not play Shittu, Riga, and Elmander regularly. He chose Cahill, Taylor, and Davies over those players!!!
Although Taylor can play a bit. His other two 'favorites' were INSANE choices over the other 2 Johnny Foreigners. Megson begged to be sacked. The same goes to Hughes, he was given a Ferrari, but he can only drive a 4 door Sedan such as the Boltons, the Blackburns, the Sunderlands and all that shite.
Megson can't coach for shite!

Cahill is SHITE full stop. That's why a good coach like O'Neill waved him SEE YA!
He is just another English central defender who can only knock the ball away from his own area. Can't start the offense through passing. I have learned that you're 'world class' for the English media if a defender can only do that, you know, just knock the ball clear.
No racism. It's just good ol' keen observation, Boro. Shittu is ten times the better central defender, but he will never get a vote of confidence from someone like Megson. Perhaps Megson is the racist one here? The ethnocentric insular c**t "I only have eyes for the local boys" twat?

That'd certainly explain why he plays all those thoroughbred Englishmen like Klasnic, Cohen, Steinsson, Jääskeläinen and Chung-yong Lee.
Cahill also offers them goals.

Re: Bolton sack Megson
SO Puro you think Shittu is better than Cahill and Cahill is only rated highly cos he can clear the ball from his area but cant start moves from the back through passing...have you ever seen Shittu play ? the guy is a clumsy fucker and all he can do is clear it from the back, his passing is shit...to be honest his alround play is pretty shit, he is a decent championship defender at best.

Lil Harsh on Elmander coops, he's never been known as a goalscorer, In fact the only one that Bolton have had this decade was Anelka.

Puro does have a point on Riga though. He has performed in La Liga and Eredivisie and Megson never gave the guy a chance. He even slagged him off for wanting to score goals. What an awful ambition in a striker! Megson has his teams play shite football and is not a top quality manager - it has ended in tears too many times to be coincidence with him.
Elmander was definitely his favourite foreigner last season and Davies was always going to play regularly under Megson; he's exactly the type Megson likes.

Elmander was the biggest flop in the Eredivise evah.... Even on an empty pitch with no opposition he wouldn't score a single goal...

Re: Bolton sack Megson
I agree with Puro that Cahill is massively overrated as a defender.
He is however a massive goal threat and much better player than Shittu who is never a Premier League player.
