Milan were pretty much out before they came.

    Inter can actually defend.

    Teams in the 1/4s:

    Arsenal
    United
    Lyon
    Bayern

    Most Likely:
    Barca
    Cheslea or Inter
    Bordeux
    Sevilla

Looks like a fairly weak 1/4 finals to me !

Thats true. Its not easy to do a 4-0 against us. I have been saying this the last 4 years, the club that is most similar to Inter is Chelsea. It was true when Mou was at Chelsea and Mancio was at Inter, and its still quite true. Similar style, similar squad depth. Chelsea ve done better than us at the CL, and worse domestically. But there is not too much seperating the sides.

Its gonna be a close game. What I'm worried about is that Inter have had one too many slow starts this year... we usually seem to wake up only after half time.... we cannot afford that next week, if Chelsea score early then it will be very very difficult to win this tie. But if Inter score first, the game is over. So I hope Inter come off the block quickly, all guns ablazing..........

Cech being out will be a huge boost to you though. Chelsea have been relatively shocking defensively recently so you should at least feel confident of grabbing a goal.

Barca are still the favourites, followed by Utd and then whoever wins between Inter and Chelsea. Arsenal are 5th favourites I'd say, but who knows? I think we could do over Inter, Chelsea or Barca on current form

I think it's at the point now where any of Inter, Chelsea, Man. Utd, Arsenal, or Barça could beat each other "on their day". As always, the CL will get decided on things like individual matchups on the night, who makes (or doesn't make) mistakes, injury/fatigue situations, each team's position in their league title race, etc. And of course, refereeing decisions Razz

Bordeaux, Sevilla/CSKA, and Lyon would probably need their opponents to have a real off day if they are to keep progressing, unless of course they play each other. And the two French sides look better than Sevilla/CSKA atm.

I quite fancy Bordeaux as a dark horse to be honest. I think they have a shock in them. Depends who they get in the quarters but I wouldn't fancy us to face them because they're a team that the press would expect you to beat, but who I expect to be very tricky customers.

He was a lot better just before the injury, he was brilliant against Wolves when we won 1-0 and the game before he'd started to look a bit like his former self. Obviously nowhere near the form of 04/05, 05/06 and up to Hunt kicking his head in, but he was playing really well.

Compared to Hilario, it's a huge loss in goal for us. Hilario didn't do too badly against Stoke (Rolling Eyes) at the weekend, but Inter are a whole different package. He could basically cost us the game with our defence being pretty frail at the moment.

    We beat Wolves 2-0.

Cech had a fairly poor first half against Inter, but the last month or so before that was the best I'd seen him play (consistently) since the Hunt injury, so it's a real shame that he picked up this knock.

Some of the criticism against Hilario is very unfair imo. Sure he had an awful game against Man City, but he's played against Barcelona (twice), Liverpool and Arsenal and fared well in those games. Also, Inter won't play anything like Stoke did, which will help Hilario (Inter obviously have a lot more quality but they won't pump the ball directly into the 6 yard box 8-9 times a half, which Hilario really struggles with).

short term form doesn't mean much. You lost to Chelsea twice already this season. Inter are also another physical side who can defend well which isn't a good match for Arsenal.

I'd have to disagree on the last part blue. If either side scores early, the tie is still wide open and wouldn't be killed. Psychologically, it would be a blow to either team though, but i don't think Inter would be the type of team to fold over easily like Porto and Milan did.

I've also always thought that Chelsea and Inter are similar, hence this tie is very interesting.

Well, in football, anything is possible. But both these teams are excellent counter attacking sides, and are at their best when the other team needs a goal or two. For eg, if Inter score first, chelsea will need at least 2 goals to take the game into ET. Now that will be a tough ask, coz Inter are lethal in situations when we just need to absorb the pressure and on counters exploit the spaces invariably left by a side who desperately need goals. We thrive on such situations. And Chelsea are no different.

If there is only one goal in the first half, the team who has scored that goal should be able to conserve (or even make safe) that result.

I would be interesting to see who they get in the quarters, because their form has been amazing this year int he C.L, 7 games, 6v 1d, 10 goals scored 2 goals conceded. Thye almost only score on free kicks.
