Well Done Chelsea FC!!!!
Am not chelsea fan, but i will give them credit for their win against the defending champs Barsa. I watched the whole game, and it was one of the most attacking soccer so far, but there was a little mistake they were doing and that was not keeping posation. They let Barsa have most of the posation and waitted for the counter attack which is not bad. But they have remmember that they were playing Barsa, they were lucky Barsa didn't equalize. Anyways overall Good game Blues!!!

Its a commn fault of Chelsea - largely down to the fact that they play unentertaining antifootball

Were we really lucky Barca didn't equalize?
To be fair, Barca only really has 2-3 half-decent chances all night, even though Chelsea missed many good chances/half-chances, I never actually felt once Barca would score tonight (and I have never thought that before in any of our previous encounters).
For now, I just want to enjoy this night, but I can promise you nobody will get carried away.

They had the 1 chance at the end (Deco shot) and 1 in the first half (Messi), which I thought could've gone in but Hilario did well with both.
Were you watching our game instead of Liverpool's by any chance?

When Sheva gets in the groove and we take our chances we are going to bury someone! We really should have got at least a second tonight.

Do Chelsea fans think Shevchenko will be benched any time soon? I can't believe how bad he's playing. Even his first touch, which is generally sublime, is way off the mark at the moment. I hope his English lessons are going well because everything else obviously isn't

He needs time to settle, and the only way he will settle is by playing.
Drogba was poor in his 1st season. So were Essien and even Makelele to be fair. I know Sheva is knocking on, but I think we need to give him even a season, to find his feet.
And why change a winning/unbeaten team?

no i actually watched your game.... shevchenko was horrific but the rest were brilliant... makalele, essien, drogba, boula, terry and carvalho were amazing.. lampard wasn't even so bad tonight either ... however barca really didnt put too much effort in so hard to read too much into it...S4P wrote:COTR wrote:never felt chelsea were under any pressure at any point of the game to be honest.... it should have really been 3 or 4 to chelsea

In COTR language, this means Lampard had a good game
I don't think Barcelona 'weren't trying', but we simply had an answer to everything they tried to throw at us. Boulahrouz was in particular awesome.

no it wasn't really a good game from him.. so many counter attacks he ruined because he is too slow and has no creativity... but not a night to be dwelling on lampard

I wasn't heckling him, but the reception was ridiculous.
Nice to see Eidur get a top reception, even if he didn't play well.

I'm sure Shevchenko will start playing well eventually. It's only a matter of time before he starts banging goals in. But his problems go further than adaptation to the Chelsea team. His finishing, his first touch, and his dribbling are all off. Should Shevchenko still play ahead of Joe Cole or Robben for instance? Sometimes a little time on the bench can actually do wonders for a player.

@ Torrente
I would consider benching him now J.Cole is back, but I think you need to give Sheva time.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Maka dropped for one of the wingers, and play Essien in the holding role.

@S4P
I know what you mean. Of course Shevchenko will come good. He has too much class not to. I'm not suggesting to write him off for the rest of the season like that idiot Hansen. But maybe he shouldn't be playing 90% of the minutes that Chelsea play. Especially when you guys have quality players like Joe Cole and Robben ready to step up.
Any news on when Joe Cole will start playing? I thought he was supposed to be recovered by now.

Re: Well Done Chelsea FC!!!!
congratulations to Chelsea. Obviously by far the better team on the night. Barcelona didn't have a chance. Unforgiveable to leave Edmilson on, what a poor showing. Ronaldinho was bullied out of the game by Boula same as against Sevilla in Monaco by Alves.
We do miss Eto'o.
It may be a different story in the Camp Nou but I am glad it is not a knock out round this time around.

He came on last weekend against Reading, but I can understand Jose's decision not to pick him last night
@ toonh
Thanks for the kind words Maybe Eto'o would've made a difference on the night, but who knows? Best of luck anyway

Re: Well Done Chelsea FC!!!!
Apart from a couple of occassions were Messi got around the back of Ca$hley, Chelsea kept Barca at arms length for the most part.
But Chelsea didn't display their usual ruthlessness.
Hilario did what he had to do.

Re: Well Done Chelsea FC!!!!
To be fair, FLumps had a very good game - it irritates me how he can play like that yet so poorly for England. That first time pass to Sheva in the box simply showed his sharpness is >>>>>>>> then it was in the WC.
Gets a lot of stick (and rightly), but credit where credit is due- Lampard was excellent, along with Essien, Maka, and Drog.
Ballack and Sheva still need to raise their games
