HT 0-1....not sure how but the ref made up for Benfica's wastefulness but sending off a player to keep the fans happy. Maybe he's homophobic?

Excellent first half from us. Pity the ref (and Babel) has ruined an intriguing game.

Insua is getting pwned but we have nobody to bring on in his place. Gerrard and Kuyt were brilliant.

We aren't exactly hanging on but surely will be at some point.

By the way Standard deserved 0-1 up at HSV Mbokani header. Amazing they finsihed 7th in Belgium this season.

    Not sure about that.

Anyway, Hamburg up 2-1 at the half.

Just after they scored it was. Thought they looked the better team. HSV should have had a pen after 10 secs, so in that sense it wasn't deserved. Anyway now HSV deserve to be at 2-1.

Cant believe he was sent off for that. Refs need common sense.

Insua's yellow means he is out of the second leg and Aurelio is broken obviously so he won't be playing.

Possibly Agger will have to play LB or hopefully I rather Mavinga gets a chance.

Babel always deserves to be sent off. How do you know what he said to the ref?

Babel was losing possession constantly when he was playing. Not big difference with or without him..

He was probably still in shock for seeing a red card for something so minimal and pathetic.

This is going to be a great second half to sit through as a Liverpool fan Biggrin

The ref better even this bullshit up soon

2035: Absolutely remarkable. Crazy. Luisao is lucky not to get a red card for an abysmal challenge on Fernando Torres. The Benfica defender goes right through the back of the Liverpool striker on the halfway line - but is only booked. Ryan Babel says something to Luisao and in the ensuing scuffle, pushes him in the face a couple of times. Babel then appears to say something to the referee, who promptly flashes a straight red at the Liverpool winger.
