Would have been terrible had Germany got the 4th CL place when u look at the quality of players in Serie A compared with Bundesliga - van Gaal has worked a miracle just to reach the final.
Why does a team like Bayern take it to a Mourinho team in a game like this ?
Don't be a deluded purist - sit back and make Inter come at you.
As soon as Bayern started dominating possession I think we all knew the outcome.
Also once you are losing - putting in crosses against that defence is just ridiculous.
Inter deserved winners
It could be an interesting theory but it doesn't make a difference in reality.
Inter have got the better defenders, so the chances of them cocking up is far lower compared to the Bayern defenders. And Inter have also got the better offensive players, which means they are more likely to take advantage of any cock ups by the Bayern defenders. A more conservative approach by Bayern could have well seen us watch a boring 0-0 for 120 mins, but the more likely scenario was Inter taking advantage of a cock up by one of the Bayern defenders at some point in the 2nd half.
I think Van Gaal got it right by going for it, he's not a clown, he knew well before the match started that Mourinho was going to hand the initiative to him. He also knew it was vital they score 1st which would have forced Inter to be more adventurous and they nearly did had the ref blown for penalty for that Maicon handball. It could have been interesting to see Inter chasing the game leaving space for Robben to run into.
I will continue seeing Mourinho as an average tactician for as long as he continues employing cowardly tactics whilst in charge of the world's biggest clubs.
Anyway, I agree that Inter were the deserved winners, their route to the final is probably the hardest i can remember from the winner in recent times.

Route to the final? CSKA Moscow? Bayern? Yes they had to beat chelsea and barca on the way, but didn't liverpool beat juve, barca, chelsea and milan in 2005? All through luck obviously

That was just as hard imo but they didn't meet Barcelona that season. Liverpool like Inter beat two teams that became champions that year.110% wrote:Route to the final? CSKA Moscow? Bayern? Chelsea, Barca & Bayern - 3 champions of leagues which are the strongest outside of Serie A in Europe.
Rubin Kazan & Kiev were also champions of their league when we played them, but those are not top leagues.

I think Inter fully deserved it and I am happy they won, full respect to them and Mourinho, but they had the easiest final in years against Bayern. Bayern beat manu on the way, but who else? Lyon, Fiorentina? Although a different mixture of teams got through to the later stages somehow I get the feeling this years CL was a bit poor quality-wise compared to previous years. Liverpool, Milan, Juve, Arsenal and Real were poor compared to normal and even those teams like Lyon don't seem as strong as they were a few years ago.

Congrats Inter , Congrats Mourinho.
I'd also want to congratulate Bayern for their season. Shame I only logged on now since saturday, as everything has already been said in the thread.
