Not only is Hodgson making WAVES with Fulham

Big Bad Schtevie Mac is a SHMOKE and a PANCAKE away from wrapping up the Dutch league.

With Harry Redknapp on the verge of becoming the first English manager in A LONG TIME to take a Premier league club into the Champions League,

English managers, like 70's aviator sunglasses, may just be back in fashion Ale

Well if we are doing down managers previous jobs. Mourinho had the biggest chequebook in the premiership, won two premier league titles, but couldn't change the team to cope with a resurgent Man U.

Not that I think Mourinho isn't a good manager but it is harsh to point out mistakes or failures Hodgson made ten years ago.

I think of Hodgson as a likeable guy, but just wasn't good enough to coach at that level. Most interisti I know are fond of him, and so is Moratti. So happy for him now, I know Fulham wins this europa for Hodgson Hodgson vs. Mourinho - Page 2 F_ale2

@Abundance, I remember the uefa cup final so well... the return at GM, it looked lost till Zamaranoooooooooo scored.... man, I miss Bam Bam!! Also miss Pagluica, he was our goalie those days... I guess Moratti started breaking transfer records immediately after Hodgson's time, but still Hodgson had a good team... Pagluica, Bergomi, Zanetti, Ince, Winter, Sforza, Djorkaef, Zamarano, Ganz... some fairly decent players there. In the next 2-3 years, Moratti went on his biggest spending spree buying Ronaldo, Vieri, Baggio, & co.... good days!

    Sort of.

He may switch off at crosses/set-pieces but was a very good one-on-one defender v wingers.

Joaquin used to rape him but he was an amazing dribbler.

I think RC has become an underrated player, even if his defending at times was poor he was a very good footballer and an effortless athlete.

He could help you play mainly in the other teams half but still be quick enough to get back and defend when needed.

    ok
I wonder how he would come of if he didn't play for such attacking teams as Real Madrid and Brazil. His style of defending fit these teams as well.

Also Bernd Schneider gave him a torrid time once or twice they were playing against each other, even with Carlos being much quicker than Schneider.
I also don't remember Carlos being beaten too aften in 1 on 1 situations, but I remember moments like him trying to kick out the ball using a bicycle kick in his own penalty in Brasil-Denmark game at WC, he totally miskicked it and Denmark score a goal then.

    Only Bernard Mendy beat RC

Back to this discussion I cannot believe how you can compare the two?

Besides Porto team that won back to back European titles cost alot less than this Fulham squad.

Anyways I like Hodgson I respect him more than any other British manager but he can work outside his comfort zone i.e McClaren,Venables and the greatest English manager ever!
