    Ghana – 24.1
    North Korea – 24.8
    Germany – 25.0
    Cameroon – 25.2
    Spain – 25.9
    Chile – 25.9
    Serbia – 26.0
    Slovakia – 26.1
    Switzerland – 26.7
    Ivory Coast – 26.7
    Uruguay – 26.7
    Slovenia – 26.7
    South Africa – 26.9
    USA – 26.9
    Mexico – 27.1
    Argentina – 27.1
    South Korea – 27.1
    Algeria – 27.2
    New Zealand – 27.3
    France – 27.4
    Greece – 27.7
    Nigeria – 27.7
    Denmark – 27.7
    Netherlands – 27.7
    Portugal – 27.7
    Japan – 27.8
    Honduras – 28.1
    Paraguay – 28.1
    Italy – 28.2
    Australia – 28.4
    Brazil – 28.6
    England – 28.7

So England and Brazil are the oldest, which is a little surprising. I thought Italy would beat them.

It's also worth noting that Italy had the oldest squad at the last WC.

No surprise England is up there...the core of the squad is all 28-32, and there's only Rooney, Milner, Lennon and Hart under 25.

Shows how big a change there will have to be in the next 5 years.

Hopefully that Italian stat is an omen Biggrin

No surprise Ghana have the youngest squad, but having watched all their ACON games I can assure you there's some talent in those kids. The only thing they lack is experience, and a reliable finisher.

Big cluster of teams in the 26.7-27.7 range, as you'd expect.

England's team is only old because Capello has clung on to has beens like David James, Jamie Carragher and Frank Lampard instead of being bold and blooding new talent like Sven did with Walcott.

Smart thing to do, no? Experience is key to win a world cup.... afterall, in 2006 the oldest squad won the world cup...

And its not like you are veryyoung at 26, but too old at 28 Razz

Its not too surprising that England, Brasil and Italy have among the oldest squads... they are very "Serie A" teams, coached by people who have mastered their trade in Italy and in the Italian way of calcio....

I can see the similarities between the situation England are in Italy's situation 4 years ago. A "golden generation" who have underachieved for years, yet on their last legs and under a competent they finally achieive something. Maybe it will be the same for England Wink

We don't just have a very young squad, I bet we have the youngest first XI, too.

Aren't Ghana the youngest because a lot of Africans lie about their age?

It SHOULD be make or break for the core of England squad, if they fail to impress again then the likes of Stevie G, Fwank, lionheart etc need to be taken out to pasture. I want to see Young and Johnson on the wings during the euro campaign. We need to be more ruthless with these fuckers. <Ale>
