WC is not the highest stage though, it has been obvious that the gap between club football and international football has become massive. Just because its only once in the 4 years does not make it better then the CL.

I don't think the gap is massive, but if we only look at quality of players or tactical preparation, I think club football is certainly ahead.

But when you add the emotion, World Cup football definitely wins. Cardozo or Gyan would never be as distraught as they were if they had missed a penalty in the CL semifinal.

Yes, there is maybe more pressure but it is still a significantly lower standard overall.

Oezil is good and Mueller too as is Schweini but you don't seriously think you could come close to challenging for a CL with Mertesacker, Friedrich, Podolski and Klose in your starting XI ?

Liverpool 2005 is another example.

But again, as I posted above, if we're just talking about player quality, there's definitely a difference. But I don't think it's a huge one.

i bet thomas vermalen is more rated, he joined from a small league into the big epl and became one of the best defenders, but mertesacker would only be good enough for everton against your kick and rush football in the EPL mertesacker with his physically would be world beater
