Yeah, it shouldn't ve been a red card.... but with the reputations players like Vieira, Balotelli, Matrix, etc carry, if they make contact with their arm, they will get penalised.... it happens very often with these players, and many times they end up with a harsh red....fcb wrote:Wrong decision by the ref IMO. I don't think even Vieira is stupid enough to elbow someone in a friendly. But no surprises seeing Materazzi dying
Pirlo wrote:Palermo are going to slide, they've lost a lot (Bresciano, Simplicio, Cavani) and not really gained anything apart from Maccarone.
They still have some things going for them - young Sirigu is the lastest to be called the 'next Buffon', he's very talented but no pressure! Mattia Cassani is a solid right defence , and of course they have Pastore and Hernandez to support the lone attacker.
midfield is similar to ours, Liverani is a great passer and architect but Nocerino and Migliaccio are too bland to be effective against a lot of the relative strengths of other teams midfields around them.
Roma excite me too, i've been a fan of the Cobra for years! Menez is starting to show more consistency and take greater responsibility, and if Adriano turns up then they can achieve great things. Oversleeping and missing training on your first day isn't a good start though!
Simplicio adds to the depth and strength of their midfield, he's a great player, strong and with a very accurate and powerful shot from range.
Samp have the 'fantastic four' - Poli, Palombo, Pazzini and Cassano, but very little else, those four are very good players, around them not so good.

Inter
Roma
Juventus
Milan - (at least two places higher though if we sign Bocchetti, Palombo, Poli and Ibra. )
Genoa

Black Magic wrote:Genoa's mercato has been really impressive. I'd let magic Johnson vomit blood on me for Roma to have a market like that. Veloso has always impressed me whenever I've seen him, Rafinha was being linked to Bayern just a few months ago and Eduardo was my keeper of the WC! Toni showed glimpses of his magic with us and if he could stay motivated I think he could get close to the 15 goal mark.
They most likely haven't closed their window yet, but I haven't been all that impressed with Juventus' signings thus far. Bonucci apart, Pepe? Decent player at his best. Motta was class in his half season at Roma, the season after though he was just pathetic, he was getting burned by wingers and making silly mistakes. Heard he wasn't all that flash in Juve's EL qualifier either. Martinez was a good signing, just not all that scary. The thing with Juventus was the likes of Melo, Diego and Amauri were horrible last season - 10/11 doesn't hinge on their new signings, it hinges on these guys.
I watched Sao Paulo's Copa Libertadores Semi and yep, Hernanes is pretty special, like a poor man's Leandro Greco. The Alvaro-Ledesma-Hernanes midfield should be scary.
Kjaer and Cavani are big losses, but Simplicio and Bresciano weren't all that influential for Palermo last season. Bresciano is an alright pick up for Lazio, but his best years are behind him. Hernandez impressed me, I hope he has a good season.
Adriano looked to have lost a lot of weight in the friendly against Levante and seemed to have developed a nice relationship with Totti already. Francesco has been playing as the trequartista all summer under Ranieri, he looks to be the fittest he's been since 07. In fact the whole team looks especially fit, this is the first pre season I can remember where we've looked sharp and ready for the new season. The defence is still an issue but not to worry, Prade bought Burdisso's younger brother as defensive assurance. (Inter won't budge on Nico's asking price and we don't have an owner, so.....) Riise---Mexes---Juan---Rosi projected for R1.

All Interisti are very interested to see whether he makes that transition from jr to senior level, a jump which has consumed many a young Italian talent. Destro, currently at loan to Genoa, has started on the right foot. He scored a hatrick in the friendly yesterday against a local side...
Gooooooooo Destrooooooo, show Toni how to score agian
True, but mostly coz at Inter he will ve to compete with the likes of Milito, Eto'o, Pandev, etc... it can be difficult for anyone... hell, Forlan might find it difficult to make our first XI! Its not like the competition is against the mighty 99 yr old Inzaghi and the misfiring HunterEdin Dzeko wrote:bluenine wrote:Our "new Balotelli" (tho only 6 months younger), Mattia Destro is the kid to watch. Considering he's Italian his chances of making it into Inter's first 11 are very slim.
