Wink

    Meh.

Not anywhere near a vintage performance from us.

Pav and Crouch is frankly a useless partnership, has never worked nor will it. Far too many aimless balls from midfield. Palacios offering little in terms of cohesion to the strikers

Best player has been Lennon, but he's not getting much of the ball. Good cross for the goal. Pav should have made it 2-0 after his run 10 minutes from half time.

Bremen look like a team completely shorn of confidence and on damage limitation.

Not great entertainment wise. Bremen seem intent on hacking Bale out of the game.

Would take a 1-0 now though and be thankful of getting out of the group stages.

Not meant to be a moan. I was just expecting a little more cohesion. Certainly not moaning, at 1-0 I could see us chucking it.

Pissed off as I had expected to be going to the game tonight, but had to give up the ticket due to late work commitments.

Shocking? Hmm, not really. It was better than the 1-4 in Hoppenheim, the 1-4 in Hannover, certainly better than the 0-4 in Milan, the 0-6 in Stuttgart, the 0-4 against Schalke or the lost home games against Mainz, Nürnberg and Twente this season. It was poor, yes, we had no chance, yes, but still.

Anyway, I guess that was our last away game in European football for a long time. And considering what we have seen this season it`s probably better this way.

    Very Happy

    agree entirely

GOD knows how Spurs managed to score ONLY 3 against a Werder B-Team when lesser Bundesliga sides like relegation bound Stuttgart managed to score 6

You're a nice chap Otto. This did make me laugh.

I'm still baffled at how a team full of talents from the Endless Conveyor Belt (tm) such as Marin and Kroos were unable to breach our frankly non existent defence. First team in 18 attempts unable to do so. Even West Ham who are bottom of the EPL managed it. What does this say about the Bundesliga one wonders? Whistle Laughing

Werder Bremen (aside from Marin, who still looked fantastic on the ball) had no spirit whatsoever... they knew how bad their team currently is, and fully expected to lose the game, and thus made very little effort going forward... I think that, based on Wednesday's performance, they would much rather be done with all European competition and concentrate completely on the domestic front for the remainder of the season.

I am also surprised at the lacklustre Spurs offense in going against an entirely demoralized Bremen defense...

3 goals, 2 rebounds off the bar, a missed penality and some forced saves from Wiese not enough for you? From a team missing 5 first team players themselves (VDV, King, Dawson, Huddlestone, Corluka) with half an eye on a big game against slumbering giants Liverpool this weekend. You drive a hard bargain sir Laughing Wink Ale

Half Agreedabout Marin. The Bosnian (stir, stir) was fairly impressive once again, without ever really troubling us though in truth. Bremen clearly have some good players and some very decent fans (great voice even when 2-0 down), which only compounds how little fight they have showed throughout this CL campaign.

bernd, it gives me genuine pleasure to see you so chuffed about your victory against WErder

    but, let's be honest here

what SHOULD have been CARNAGE, ended up being a well-mannered 3-course-meal with perfectly folded napkins, followed with Mints and Port

let me tell you a story to put your lacksture display against Werder INTO CONTEXT

I play for a village-pub team in Munich, called "1. FC One-Eyed United"

THIS December we celebrate the club's 100th anniversary

through a personal connection of a board member to Frings, we have managed to organise a CHARITY Anniversary Match against Werder

ALL proceeds going to the "Real MEN- Charity" held in Rost/Basler/Völler...'s memory

the game we were all looking forward to and trained for so hard has now be CANCELLED though

with Allofs telling our Chairman that

"under current circumstances, we just do not think we can scramble together a team likely to be WORTHY opponents of your venerable 1-FC One-Eyed-United"

    in response, our chairman wrote

    "Dear Klaus Allofs

we understand that times are hard for Werder at the moment

to assure that the match be played under COMPETITVE conditions, we offer you to cover our last remaining eye and play the match BLIND

    Yours sincerely

    Herr Wohlgesonnen "

we are yet awaiting Allofs' response, but sources close to him tell us Werder's LEAST worry is eyesight

it's mostly a heart-failure and back-problem Bremen suffers from and an easy fix is not in sight

Otto, you're a good natured chap, an educated chap, a real bastion of the old school. For that, I respect you. The kind of affectionate respect one has for their grandad infact.

However, just like one's grandad, one must often lend a guiding hand for those embarrassing moments when they struggle to remember which direction the toiliet is, right about the time a wet patch begins to form on their trousers and just before a discoloured puddle begins to form around their slippers.

So let me just tenderly and gently explain the situation, to lend that guiding hand to you as you struggle with your incontinence (metaphorically speaking) and uncertainly of direction:

I AM genuinely chuffed, but not so much about the victory against Werder Bremen, but more about our CL campaign to date as a whole.

As you've probably forgotten, or simply chose not to notice, we were 3rd seeds in this group with NO champions League experience to call upon.

That we have managed to qualify with one game to spare and score 15 goals in just 5 games (an average of 3 per game) is more than many expected from us.

To beat Werder Bremen 3-0, with the luxury of having missed a penalty and hit the woodwork a number of times, and still be a little dissapointed only serves to show how far we have come in the last 2 years since Redknapp took us from the bottom of the EPL.

If Redknapp were German, you would be making little whoops of delight into your bittburger or Frankenheim and calling for him to be crowned prince of all of Saxony and the Rhein Valley.

Think about it. And whilst you are, if you want some entertaining football, come watch Spurs Wink Ale
