If Benitez f@cks this up now, he really does deserve the sack.
Amazing result though. Good for football for a team from a new region to win.
btw, Mazembe were without one of their key players, Tresor Mputu. He's banned for a year, for doing this

True, I like the South Brazilian/Uruguayan style, as well as their coaches, but I don't like the teams and fans from the South, especially Inter.

Yo Todo! Colorado missed several sitters I couldn't believe it. Sure, they were 'looking ahead' to face their namesake (apparently players from both team were texting each other weeks before this tourney began how they were looking forward to face one another in the final, and that they were betting dinner steaks etc. etc. ), but that's why they play the games.
Colorado should've known what they were up against when Pachuca were ambushed. Mazembe are an EPL "big four" fully aware of their inferiority against superior teams, and that's why they played the way they did against Pachuca and Inter. Mazembe took a page right out of Rubin Kazan AND Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool when the latter three play against Barça.
No shame for Mazembe though (or Rubin Kazan) considering their budget. Good win for football, for Africa. What a fiasco for Pachuca (no excuse) and Internacional (embarrassing!).
Here's looking forward to see how them Koreans and Molina play against the other Copa Libertadores team today.

Did Liverpool really play "pussy football" the last time they played (and beat) Barcelona? For that matter, did Chelsea, before the last time around? Those were a couple of brilliant ties in '04-'05 and '05-'06.
You've left Arsenal off the list this time, and I agree with the implication: we weren't "pussies", we were just badly outplayed

Mourinho certainly didn't play the pussy football puro and the cules regularly link him to in 04/05 2nd leg. I can remember Joe Cole and Damian Duff (and Ronaldinho...) causing all kinds of problems for the full-backs. Oh, and Lampard robbing Xavi of possession for the opening goal.
If puro wants to talk about pussy football v Barca, why not mention Inter? The one time Mourinho did park the bus against Barcelona.

Yo Puro
What was the name of that South American team that took a leaf out of the EPL big four's book and sat in their own half for almost the entire match against us in the World Club final in 2005 ? The name escapes me at the minute. Imagine a Brazilian side too scared to come out and play against the likes of Crouch, Carragher, Finnan, Warnock and co.

Inter 2-0 up in the final. Looks like they are going to cruise it and Benitez's job is safe for now. His injury-plagued Inter squad lineup as follows:
Cesar
Maicon-Luico-Cordoba-Chivu
Zanetti-Cambiasso-Motta-Pandev
Milito-Eto'o

"I spoke with the president at the beginning of the season" continued the Nerazzurri coach, "and we will talk again, but today is a day of celebrations. Is this a misquote? If they give him control over everything then surely there is only one culprit later on, i.e. him?
Looks like he's getting his excuses in, so obviously there's still a reasonable chance he's going to get sacked.

A few other versions
"We did what we had to do. We had no fear, we talked and we had to put in place: lots of possession because the legs are not yet one hundred percent and then hit on the counterattack. " Rafa Benitez says the secrets of the great victory that brings the entire world champions in the FIFA Club World Club 2010 and continues revealing that: "This evening was not easy to decide to send in training camp, I had to make a choice and I opted for Zanetti covering Maicon, Stankovic considered a major player in the race in progress. "
"I dedicate this success to my family in England and Spain - Benitez continues - at the staff, players, and all those who worked with me to the company, the Inter fans and a little 'also to those of Liverpool deserved to win this trophy. We won today and their cheering for Inter. "
He then speaks of transfers: "I spoke with the president early in the season - continues the Inter coach - and parlemo yet, but today is a day to celebrate. I was brought up, I did my job and I took the criticism . But now I need support and I intend to support first the market. Now I will say that if Inter want as a coach Rafa Benitez must have a hundred per cent support, control of everything that happens. In this way, then, there will be only one culprit. I'll talk about it, but I think the team needs four players to win today and tomorrow. At this point, support one hundred per cent, or we go ahead with the guilty. For all other solutions , is my agent who is willing to talk with the company. The culprit, however, can not be just the coach. otherwise there is no project. "
Rafael Benitez issued what amounted to an ultimatum after Inter Milan's Club World Cup triumph on Saturday, telling his bosses to strengthen the squad if they wanted to keep him as coach.
"There are three possibilities (for the club)," he told reporters after Inter's 3-0 win over Africa's TP Mazembe in Saturday's final offered relief for the beleaguered coach.
"One, 100 percent support for the coach and buy four or five players -- to build a stronger team with competition among the players to be able to carry on winning matches and trophies.
"Two, carry on like this without a project, without planning and go ahead with one person to blame, for the whole season getting to May this way.
"The third is to speak to my agent, reach an agreement if there is not this support. Simple."

He is probably just pissed off with the months of abuse he has been receiving and has finally decided to vent that frustration in the form of an ultimatum so he can at least stop the nonsense one way or the other with the sack probably being the more likely outcome.

Where's the agenda? I haven't said that Benitez is a shit manager or that I want him to fail.
So far this season, we've been told that the reason Inter have started this season so poorly (compared to the last 5 years) is because virtually all of their first team have been injured. Now that Inter have an (almost) full-strength squad to choose from, they should start to go on similar runs to the ones they had under Mancini and Mourinho.

Very foolish from Rafa. Shows again (after "FACT"-gate) that he's clueless about the PR side of being a manager. Immediately after winning a big trophy, he decides to give an ultimatum to his president?
And even worse, he wants "full control", something even Mourinho didn't get at Inter, a club where they employ a technical director. What does Rafa think, that Moratti wants Robbie Keanes and Ryan Babels at Inter?

Or maybe he thinks Moratti would want a Reina, Alonso, Torres, Mascherano or Agger. Name me the manager that hasn't had a few big money flops in their career please ? From some of those translations all it seems like he is asking for is new players to increase the level of competition in the squad and keep players who have recently won everything from becoming complacent.
Anyway I disagree with your first point here. Rafa realises he is a sitting duck and has been for a month or so. Moratti has even said it in public that he will decide on Rafa's future after this competition was over. This is Rafa attempting to gain back the control and respect he needs to win over the dressing room again, otherwise as he says he may as well be sacked immediately.
P.S 'FACT gate' was fucking awesome. Nothing you can say will ever convince me that that was a bad idea.
