Alves, Maicon, Lahm. Srna pretty close, Van der Wiel on the right track to get there eventually.

I was always a Maicon > Alves man and at the top of his game he was great but there has been a serious dip in form.
Alves, whilst being an absolute sub-human, has gone from strength to strength and gets my vote.

thank god i think vangaal wanted him, butthe bayern bosses said no, they were not utterly impressed by him
a fullback should be at first good at defending, here is lahm the best, his attacking game is still not worth to mention, ok thats a little harsh, but he is very intelligent ín reading the game (no wonder he can play CM too) and has in each game at least 1 dangerous situation in attack
but overall he is the most completete fullback in my eyes, decent in attack and world class as defender

I voted Alves.
Had I not been an idiot and realised we could have gone for three votes, would have also picked Maicon and Lahm. Sagna and Ramos unlucky to miss out. Don't see enough of Srna.

Lahm is pants personified.
Everytime I watch him, I try to see what's so good about him : epic fail every single time

Why have a thread/poll now, and not at the end of the season?

Same.
Glen Johnson These options really were taken from a Liverpool site.

What does it matter though? No one's going to vote for him anyway, I certainly didn't. He's probably in the most expensive right backs list in the world so that's why he was included.

Re: Best team in the world - right back
Don't think there is much wrong with the list at all. One thing it does show however is the complete lack of quality in that position. Beyond about 6-7 players, it starts to get very thin.
I certainly wouldn't have included Motta, Zambrotta, Richards, Boateng, Reveillere but again who else is out there? There's an argument there that none of the above are even first choices for their club let alone being in contention to be the best in the world in the RB position.
Maybe Isla, Abate would have been more appropriate inclusions, at least on this seasons form. Otherwise pretty decent list I think (in terms of the options available)

Re: Best team in the world - right back
I think some of the options are shite, like you mention... it does not make a difference, as the top 4-5 are quite obvious in the category. But there could ve been better options, like Maggio, Lichtsteiner and Cassani for example - these guys are far better than the likes of Motta & Co.Calidad wrote:Don't think there is much wrong with the list at all. Re: Best team in the world - right back
Ok - Alves wins by a clear margin. Maicon runner up but Lahm ran him close.
