there are a lot of good young right backs at the moment, but is there one player that stands out as the best?

for years everyone use to say that Cafu was the best right-back in the World but now he is past his best. so who takes over from Cafu's crown as the best right back in the World?

I was just predicting what I'd thought you'd say, like if it was the best manager you'd say Wenger, if it was the best player you'd say Henry, if it was the best youngster you'd say Fabregas, if it was the best.....

Daniel Alves, he has been in the news in Italy, being the heir to Cafu

I could be biased but IMO Zanetti has been as good as Cafu over the last 10 years if not better... yeah, he has achieved less at the international level, but thats just coz he is not Brazilian...

Nice to see some people recognizing Miguel. When I said it one year ago, some took the piss out of me. But, now that Miguel is being thought of as a contender for worlds best right back, I'm affraid it's wrong. Now the worlds best right back is Nelson..

But you do that with Ferguson, Scholes etc. so how would it be any different.
And just now you said it would be Neville if he could shoot. Well he has a few more limtations than that: doesn't have the speed and stamina to get up and down the line, especially for overlapping, getting to the by-line and pulling the ball back, or even getting into the position to have a shot etc. He is getting ona bit, but he never had this. Also his passing is not that great, he has 2 options when he gets the ball to pass it back short or to cross it. Not sure if he has a particularly good first touch either. He is supposed to be good at heading the ball, but I don't remember him scoring from many (if any) corners, freekicks etc.
He is good at defending and crossing and that's about it. Eboue is better, even Lauren, Geremi and Finnan are equal. Chimbonda was better last year, and this is just in the EPL, without including italy, spain, germany, france, netherlands etc.
Players that have obviously always been better: cafu, zanetti, zambrotta etc are just on a different level to Neville.

Neville was never my choice, I'd pick Miguel at the moment from a poor crop of right backs.
& Yes, Finnan is obviously as good as Neville.

See the thing i like about u in particular is i shouldn't say anything positive about MY team, the least praise i give to them u are quick enough to say i am bias( funny seeing u are the most bais manu fan here). Check the old threads and u'll find out i ranked wenger the third best coach behind benitez and mourinho, henry the 2nd best player behind dihno, cesc fabregas the second best youngster for the 2005/2006 season behind ronaldo, i requested for Rio to be included in the list of world class players ahead of Toure, named 4 manu players in my team of the season etc you always ignore it when i praise other players or teams but quick to point my bias when i do so to arsenal players.

Lauren and geremi are not as good as neville for sure. Lauren is rubbish infact, and geremi is really a midfield, hes doing ok at rb, but has played 5 games in the last 2 years.

He doesn't get in positions to shoot?
He's had about 10 one on one's this season and could of had a hatrick himself vs Portsmouth.
His first touch and distribution are very good as well.
As for good at heading, I've never heard anyone say that about him, its probably his biggest weakness. He never goes up for corners or free kicks.
He's not the best in the World or Europe but he's certainly one of the best in the league.
