Re: Reading sack McDermott
seems desperate & kneejerk. The problem is more their squad isn't up to scratch. can't see a new manager being able to do a lot coming in now - and I can't see them being able to get anyone much good anyway.

Re: Reading sack McDermott
The perils for managers of getting promoted...
Agree with debaser. Reading are where everyone expected them to be. It'll be tough for them to avoid relegation, but they have a slim chance. They're not underperforming, they're just one of the weakest clubs in the league. It's not as if they've invested heavily and the manager can't make use of the resources.

Re: Reading sack McDermott
They seemed to have got some good comebacks this season which shows good character. Never understand sackings like this so late on, virtually Condemning them to relegation.

Re: Reading sack McDermott
Sounding like Di Canio is favourite. But he probably will be for every job of this level.

Re: Reading sack McDermott
Just like when Wolves sacked McCarhty last season, they have no chance now. Di Canio would be a fool to take the job.

Their next game is away to Manchester United.
Perfect opportunity for someone else to come in and make an unbeaten start...
what's for betting they don't fill the position until the week after

Re: Reading sack McDermott
Someone please explain what is the point in sacking your manager without having got a replacement first, when you are in a relegation fight, with 9 games to go and playing Utd next
Owner obviously channeling Abramovich's management style - they are Russian too, aren't they?

Reading staying up at Southamptons expense would tickle my funny bone.
