Steve Coppell achieves the unprecedented and sensational achievement of winning promotion and keeping his club up for a season and all of a sudden he's the dog's bollocks and was laughably suggested as a good call for the England job.

They've primarily relied on luck throughout their stay in the Premiership and play an unattractive and unambitious style of football.

Reading went up and got so many plastic fans its frankly absurd, the season after next you'll see they'll be back down to the 10,000 that they used to have watching them.

Goodbye to Sally Taylor, Trevor McDonald, Chris Tarrent, Lenny Henry, Cilla Black, the rest of the plastics, that ghastly chairman of theirs John Madejski and the smallest, shittiest team the Premiership has ever suffered.

The guys had f@ck all money to spend. If he came up with a £40m budget, could he do it? I expect so.

I don't mind Reading (probably because we always beat them), but I am really glad Fulham have stayed up. I'm amazed they did it though. Glad Birmingham are down.

What next for the relegated trio ?

I think Brum will lose some players like Larsson, Muamba, McSHeffrey and McFadden but might have money to spend.

I think Coppell might leave, will be interesting to see who they can keep hold of, i can see Doyle, Harper and Kitson leaving.

Derby will have money to spend and although they are $h!t at the mo i expect them to have a good team by the start of the season.

Out of the three, I see Reading having the hardest transition. Coppell will probably quit, and they'll probably lose Hunt, Doyle, Kitson (I could certainly see the latter two going to promoted teams, and Hunt's been linked with Sunderlnad for ages).

Brum should have money, so long as their cuntish owners hang around. I imagine they'll keep McLeish, too, and should be one of the better teams in the championship.

Likewise, as you say with Derby, they should have money and although Jewell has been $h!t for them so far, he's got a good record in that division and will be able to bring in his own team.

Brum and Derby will be strong with the likes of Wolves and Sheff Utd spending big i bet. Still wil lhave to see what happens in the summer.

Judging by previous seasons, I could easily see someone like Southampton, Coventry or Norwich coming back strong next season.

Also there'll be Forest, and possibly Leeds...

Funnily enough - I would give Derby the best chance of promotion of the 3.

Agreed, aside from the investment they got recently, the fact that they've got such a poor team will probably help them as they've essentially got very little to lose in terms of players, whereas Reading and Birmingham will be hit by an exodus.

Doyle, Kitson, Harper and Hunt will definately go, Matejovski and Shorey too are probably above championship level, whether or not Steve Coppell stays on remains to be seen as well.

Birmingham will also lose players, I wouldn't read too much into McFadden's comments that he'll stay put even after relegation and Ridgewell, Larsson, Jaidi, Murphy, Muamba, Kapo and of course Zarate will all either attract interest from Premiership clubs or want to leave themselves.

Yeah i cant see Derby selling many players whilst Reading and Brum will lose 5 or 6 of their best.

I think the championship will be exciting next season (as always) with some big teams in there, i also expect Wolves to spend big in the summer along with Sheff Utd.

If Reading can hold on to Doyle, Lita, Kitson and Harper and lose only Shorey and Hunt they will have a chance.

So am I...we have a bit of a rivalry with them...ever since the Pardew incident it got worse...but even before them, we had rivalry with them.

Shorey will most probably end up at us now...

50/1 apperantly, and your right ok Fucking contes <Ale>
I like clubs being diverse in regards to where they are situated and Reading were the main club in Berkshire weren't they?

Gutted from an Irish perspective as Reading have Long, Doyle, Hunt and one or two other Irish players.

    (just noticed Historicus's post)

I don't think Lita and Coppell see eye to eye, he could be sold.

Shorey will certainly leave as he probably still has that taste of International football. Hunt will go to Sunderland, you just know that one will happen over the next few months.

I'm looking forward to Bristol City vs. Palace. <Ale>

Relegation is so hard to take, its when the fixtures come out that it will really sink in, Reading and Brum. I think the Champ will be even more competetive next seaosn as Forest and Swansea have the potential to do well as do Leeds if they come up.

    mmm definately

and with teams like Norwich/Ipswich/Us/Coventry/Sheff Utd/Wednesday/the losers of the playoffs/Wolves as well as QPR with all their money and even teams like Plymouth and Burnley who got sniffs of the play-offs around, the c/ships going to be ambitious as f@ck next season.

From Jewell's comment yesterday I'd say it is pretty likely that Derby are going to sell/sack a few players, which means they'll have almost as much rebuilding to do as Brum/Reading.
