When you look at it closely a lot of them are kids or players who will be on their way out shortly (Aspas, Assaidi, Borini?, Reina, Agger?)

What beats me is why didn't Liverpool put their foot down for a Suarez - Sanchez+£40m swap? Barca would have got the same money, Sanchez might have agreed if Liverpool threw more money at him than Arsenal, and you guys might have ended up with a player who might be even more suitable partner to Sturridge than Suarez.

Sanchez is awesome, and we will have to watch out for Arsenal finally winning the title.

i'd imagine it's a mixture of Liverpool being delighted someone willing to pay £75m for their toxic waste & the fact part exchange makes any deal much more complicated (esp if the player involved would rather go somewhere else).

Nobody is delighted we have sold the third best player in the world

Ultimately the decision was with Sanchez, if he says he doesn't want to ya for you what it the point in being difficult with it ?

We'll have to see how good Markovic is instead

Markovic looks set to become our 4th signing of this summer - he's in Liverpool for a medical.

25 million for a 20 year old from an average quality league is a big risk but Rodgers obviously sees something good in him.

Benfica are a better team than us and he starts for them. Interesting way to look at things Luis. He has just won his 4th league title in a row

He is rapid so having him and Sterling either side of Coutinho and Lallana should fun. We won't lose our counter threat with Suarez gone.

Still need a major signing up front. These Bony and Origi linke worry me. No work horses please Brendan.

I believe I mentioned Bony and Origi in my post above. I know you agree on Origi as you said it yourself in another thread, so assume you are a big fan of Bony. Good for you  ok

I'd prefer a Suarez type to take over from him as it should work better in our system. Quick, skilful, good movement. Don't believe Bony fits these criteria.

I think Bony is good technically, definitely not just a workhorse. I like target men though and Bony is probably the best in the league at the moment.

Bony is Yakubu with more power and less finesse not great going into the channels though, he's slow for a black guy.

Can bang a ball from anywhere though and is decent enough technically. Also there's the AFCON this season so I wouldn't buy him.

Bony is decent technically, good in the air but nowt special.

Swansea are a brilliantly run club - they will get between £15m and £20m having already replaced him with a superior player on a free.

You do realise Liverpool have spent large amounts of money shortly after selling their star man before we ever did (Sold Torres, bought Carroll, Henderson, Downing, Suarez, Adam). Liverpool are doing a Liverpool.

I'm still somewhat amused hear the popular modus operandi is that Spurs' strategy was a complete flop. It didnt work short term, but then we had Arry Redknapp patching up our squad with the likes of Ryan Nelsen and Louis Saha at a time when we should have been building long term.

Sure, we have probably signed a few duds out of that lot (Chadli looks garbage), but just like Liverpool did with Suarez and Henderson, the reaps of the harvest will spring through with time (Eriksen, Chiriches, Capoue, possibly Lamela).

In terms of Liverpools current investments, I think theyre doing more than okay, mixing premier league experience with riskier foreign talents. Surprised though no additions to a dodgy looking defence, or someone to replace Gerrard in the long run. Even when Suarez was out they looked good going forward, so a like for like replacement is probably both highly unlikely and unnecessary anyway.

I'm not Bony's biggest fan by any means but his goals ratio is pretty good. He was scoring nearly every game in Holland and inevitably he wasn't going to get as many goals in his first season here (especially at Swansea) but he still had a pretty decent goals to games ratio for them. Suarez wasn't as prolific during his first season as he had been for Ajax either.

Nearly every name is going to be disappointing in comparison to Suarez; Sanchez would have been ideal - he's a big name, he scores goals, he's got great skill and he's quick. That failed. We have to move on.

If we didn't sign Lambert I could see why we would be in for Bony - I struggle to see how Bony can replace Suarez in our system though - I don't see him as a false number 9. He is of course a target man - perhaps if he was to play with Markovic and Sterling it could work well but then where does Sturridge fit into that?

We need to either maximise goals from anywhere possible next season which Lambert and Bony could well do or we need to tighten up the defence to allow a much lesser goals tally still be enough for a title challenge. At the moment it looks like we're going with option A.

Swansea are a brilliantly run club - they will get between £15m and £20m having already replaced him with a superior player on a free.
