I'm not a fan of Luis Alberto he drinks sangria wearing the number 6 shirt. It makes me uncomfortable.

Scousers, how would you rate Assaidi? He didnt got many games last year now did he.

He played about 7 games or something. Looked ok in a few, he's fast and puts a good delivery in but I don't think Rodgers fancied him above other options like Sterling, Downing, Coutinho...he's apparently going to be sold this summer.

I wouldn't say he would be a good fit at Swansea, personally. I had him down at someone like West Ham or Stoke where you don't need a brain to play in the midfield. Shelvey is rash, an awful tackler and his shooting is below par. To get 6 million is good business. He may develop into something of a box to box midfielder who can chip in with a few goals from distance but for now he isn't good enough for us despite showing good passion at times. He would have had Henderson, Gerrard, Coutinho and Alberto to contend for a place with.

May be seen as a potential goal-scorer from midfield (if he manages to stay on the pitch long enough). Don't think Swansea has that type of player.

Not expecting us to sign anyone else except a defender now. Think we missed out on our blockbuster signing (Micky) because we were banking on Suarez going soon but as usual we're going to have a long drawn out saga where he leaves at the end of August and we have no time to sign anyone worthwhile.

So far this summer we've pretty much broke even with the signings in and out which means any decent player/players we sign will depend on Suarez leaving. That's the sad fact of where we are as a club right now.

I don't know why we're not in for Remy, at the prices being touted he looks like a bargain, whether or no Suarez stays he'd be useful.

Maybe Rodgers has a no rapists policy?

I don't think he has even been charged yet, I predict it will all go away quietly.

I don't really think Remy would be a good signing for us anyway. The only attacking player we will bring in will be to replace Suarez, when he goes, and it needs to be someone a bit better than Remy.

I assume Aspas will replace Downing, Alberto will replace Assaidi. We'll have Sterling and Coutinho as wide options as well, maybe even Ibe.

Sturridge and Borini will compete for the striker spot.

We need a player to replace Suarez and in an ideal world another striker to replace Carroll but I'd rather focus on signing a centre back first and foremost. Going into the season with Skrtel, Coates and Toure fighting for a starting place worries me.

Hopefully Kelly takes his rightful place at right back, Enrique can maintain some form for longer than 5 games and Agger remains a bad ass motherfucker (who remembers how to tackle).

does Glen Johnson not feature in your plans Lewis? 

Presumably Mignolet the Merciless will be our no 1. 

Kelly is an adequate full back, but I think he'll play in the centre eventually, which makes left back more of a crisis in my book.

It's a pretty deep squad considering we're not in Europe.

Liverpool's big issue is kinda what is was when rafa just arrived, they are trying to fill the squad with 30/40/50m pounds are how ever much it is, instead of using that money to buy 2 top players in the summer and use the youth team and Joe average's of the premises to fill out the squad.

I've always said I'd happily have Johnson at left back; he seems far more solid there.

There appears to be some myth that Johnson is some Dani Alves/Lahm hybrid that defends like a lion and provides plenty of assists and goals when he attacks. For me he's been largely suspect as a defender since we signed him. Going forward he seems to get in good positions then let himself down with his final ball. Whenever we collapse defensively he's at the heart of it being caught out positionally or doing something rash.

Maybe it's because I was so accustomed to the safety of Finnan and after him, Arbeloa, that I don't buy into this attacking full back malarkey. This is why I like Wisdom where others say he's boring. He seems solid to me and given a chance I think could become a very safe full back. Kelly was always a top defender when he played, someone who knows how to head the ball clear but can also put in some wonderful challenges. I just hope his long term injury hasn't spoiled him.

I'd argue it's more of a myth that Johnson is a headless chicken fullback whose only saving grace is his attacking. I remember reading a stat that he was the 3rd most effective fullback in the league last season defensively. He was one of our best players in most games, probably his best season for us. 

Kelly is a wonderful prospect, but I think it's a case of absence making the heart grow fonder.

Finnan wasn't a patch on Johnson, he had Kuyt doing half his work for him.

Managed to score some tickets to 3 of our games - Stoke and West Ham  but Cardiff should provide some relief from the nihilism!

But first, Preston away on Saturday.
