He can only do better than Lambert. Villa might actually score a few goals now.

Can't say I've liked much I've seen/heard of him as a person, but will reserve judgement as to his skills as manager. As Luis says, it can't be much worse than it has been the last few months.

A short-term new manager boost might be enough to keep us up and if he does that he's a success..

WOW.... Maybe he will do good with teams that have a grafting style of play. Is that Villa?

Villa don't have a style of play.

Aren't last financial results put Lambert work in slightly better perspective? I know increased TV money were a factor, but he kept Aston Villa in Premier League for a few years despite slashing wages and low transfer budget (after selling Downing and Young two years earlier) they also didn't have many saleable assets.

Turnover around 120m probably still puts them around TOP 10 in the league though.

He was clearly constrained by budget and that is why he kept job as long as he did. but this season, Villa is close to setting all-time record - ie. the entire history of English football - for lowest goals scored in a season.

got an excuse not to be competing with top 6-8, but not to be losing repeatedly against likes of Hull, Leicester, WBA, QPR, or going six consecutive games without scoring TWICE in a season. There's bad form and there's chronic decline - became clear we had the latter..
