It's the big one! The day Mancs and Scousers come together to sing songs about Munich and Hillsborough, and watch a bit of football in between cheers

Mouthwatering tie given both seem to be somewhere near top form. It'll be heated and classless as ever both on and off the pitch no doubt, but my God we will be entertained. We DEMAND to be entertained!

    Going for a 2-2 draw.

The loser of the game will have a really shit weekend as City, Spurs and Arsenal have very easy games.

I'm not entirely convinced United are 'back' because they beat Spurs at home. But they'll be more confident than they would have been a few weeks ago.

We shouldn't really lose this game - our defence has been solid and United won't be able to break it down as easily as they did against Spurs. If they attack us we will pick them off.

Only decision Rodgers needs to make is does he start Lallana or Gerrard.

We have almost at every position a better player, thus we should win.

Think it will be a draw. Will miss it though. 3 Dutch managers in the epl though. That must be a record.

We were admittedly SHITE, but the fact that Di Maria wasn't playing meant Van Gaal finally did a decent job fielding a balanced midfield for a change, thus compounding matters. Playing Rooney upfront as opposed to in midfield is also just so fucking obvious. They overran us in midfield, I imagine because it's the first time they've actually played that group of players together (Carrick - Blind - Mata - Herrera - Fellaini) and they complemented each other exceptionally well. In my opinion on paper they are just as strong - if not stronger - than Liverpool in the central MF area (Liverpool stronger everywhere else), so should be a good game if they dominate that area which they should do against Allen / Henderson / Can or Lallana.

Goals against Chelsea and Arsenal dont count?

Absolutely loving the bitterness other fans are now pouring out with as a result of Kane's season.

Someone was trying to tell me he only scores penalties today lol! 2 of his 29 this season have been penalties.

Kane plays like a German - doesnt give a shit about how it goes in, he just puts it in. Regularly. If he has a quiet game like he did against United, dusts himself down and gets on with scoring the next week. Has none of the emotional baggage that supposed "better" players carry around. Its so enjoyable watching a kid like this playing the game, before all the cynicism of modern football will inevitably kick into overdrive. Stupid player v player comparisons, media intrusions into his private life, getting caught up in club v country nonsense and the National team circus. Time will tell whether it will ruin him, so any Spurs fan has got to just enjoy these moments. Given how utterly inept our defence is, he's almost single handedly keeping it respectable.

Fair enough bernd. But what is the Cali judgement on Vertonghen so far, considering your defense are so fragile this season.

He is a very good footballer, but a so so defender. People criticise Terry, but he is able to organise a defence, takes a clear leadership role at Chelsea, commits so few individual mistakes, positionally always ready. Vertonghen does not have those qualities. Dier is a youngster, as are Walker/Rose, they need Vertonghen to marshall that defence, and as far as I can see that isnt the case, he gets caught out too often to be classed as a top class defender
Shame, because he is a proper smooth baller, made in Holland from a technical perspective.

Can't see us scoring. I'd take a draw now.

That Gerrard red card was cathartic.

The commentator was complaining about not seeing Stevie G inside the first 15 minutes. How could Liverpool not be starting the player they've been winning without?! They needed Stevie and his encyclopedic knowledge of the fixture!

    Hilarious stuff.

That is.probably goal of the season in my opinion, given the occassion and the execution. Absolutely wonderful. Its a total mystery to me why Mata wasnt being picked, he has been - yet again - the best player on the pitch.

United have dominated the middle, as I suspected they would after looking ominously impressive against us last week. Gerrard's sending off was then self destruction at it's finest.

Gerrard's last years at Liverpool gonna be defined by 2 moments: the slip that cost the title and the stamp that may well have ended the top 4 charge. always been a nasty piece of work, so it feels rather karmic.

Gerrard cost us that defeat. No excuse when you have his experience. When he was a little kid fresh out of Huyton fair enough but at 35 years old? He should be embarrassed.

Shameful from Skrtel at the end as well. Jones should also have been sent off.

We approached the game all wrong - still don't think United are that good, they'll lose to Chelsea in a few weeks but we won't beat Arsenal next so I think 4th is starting to slip away.

Stevie Me is not capable of seeing beyond Stevie Me. It's always being about Stevie Me, IF your eyes were open. That was the lowest, the twatest, the cuntest way of sticking it up the coach's for not starting him more games even though the team plays MUCH BETTER WITHOUT HIM.

Liverpool losing the first half was down to van Gaal winning the tactics battle against Brenda and Brenda panicked - he thought he needed Gerrard in midfield. lol!

You didn't need Gerrard, asshole! You needed to have a thinking midfielder like Lucas in midfield to match the Dutchie and remove Allen, NOT LALLANA. Both Brenda and Gerrard LOST it for Liverpool.

Gerrard leaves in utter shame and Brenda gone in the summer.

    WELCOME HOME RAFA!

Well he kicked a player so nearly the same. Should of had a booking before then.

Ref wasn't great but as I said Gerrard cost us this game. 11 men we'd have got a draw.
