Player of the month

Will this weekends games be included, or will they go towards Octobers player of the month.

My shortlist so far would be - Woodgate, Agger, Gallas, Ronaldo, Essien and Drogba.

No surprises from me.

though really it's Drogba

As much as I hate the fucker i'm going with Drogba. Stood out almost head and shoulders above the other players in all of Chelsea's games this month.

Drogba for me, think he'll get it as well.

Not only has he been good in every game but he managed to score the crucial goal in the six pointer agaisnt Liverpool.

Also I know they shouldn't but CL form will be taken into account in which he has also been imperious.

Drogba has had a great month.

For all the stick over the last few years he is starting to turn in class performances. He is even frustrating Shevchenko.

It seems he has cut the histrionics from his game as well, fair play to him.

Aye, its gotta be the Drog.

Woodgate second

It should be Ronaldo Drogba.

Drogba is a good shout, as is Gallas, but how come there are no portsmouth defenders there or goal keeper? Ok they lost the last game but that was the first goal conceded.

So Sol Campbell or David James (especially ahead of the likes of woodgate when boro have only kept 1 clean sheet)

Because Woodgate has made an amzing change to our defence....it wasnt even a defence when he came in. It was just clueless bastards running around. Since then we've only conceded 2 goals, (one of which was a penalty). Not bad when you've played Arsenal, Bolton and Blackburn really.

& Pompeys was a collective thing, not only Campbell and James but Stefanovic and Primus as well.

I get your points but they are all collective. There was a boro defence there that southgate was part of, so he steps out and woodgate steps in. Maybe you lost some other players I don't know? Maybe woodgate has made them better but they have still conceded goals and lost games so clearly they are far from being good, just better than they were.

Portsmouth's defence has had sol campbell as new to it as well, and David James, and they have conceded only 1 goal. Surely they have the best defence of the whole premiership so far. So Sol Campbell should be in the mix for player of the month.

As said in the other thread Woodgate's mistake contributed to a goal, Campbell has not.

It wasnt exactly Woody's mistake though, Davies should have had the man really. Woodgate just tried to cover him and never managed to in time.

As ive said, we've only conceded one goal in open play and only lost one game.

Before Woody was there, Boro were a shambles defensively.

IMO woodgate has been much better than Campbell has this season as Boro have had to play a better quality of team than Pompey

Primus has actually impressed me more than Campbell - Sol Queen's taking all the credit because he's a bigger name IMO.

James has been excellent - then again he always plays well for his club. It's against the law to praise him in anway though... I can hear the sirens now.

Ronaldo was amazing to watch the other night. I get fed up with people (alan hansen etc) saying he should keep it simple etc, etc. BULLSHIT HANSEN, he should do more step overs and stupid flicks its ace entertainment and as im not a utd fan i dont care when he acidently backheels it to the opposition..... football needs more players like ronaldo.

Exactly what I've been saying - If Rooney or Gerrard was to suddenly burs past 2/3 players and shoot over from 25 yards, the hacks would say "Great effort, he'll be closer next time". Ronaldo/Joe Cole does the same thing, and it's "he's being selfish & wasteful" etc.
