Depends which teams make the final, I'm not in a position to 'predict' fan behaviour .. maybe the 'residential' fans of the stadium, behave in a way in which you assume 'violence' will erupt .. but we should put that thought in the back of our minds.

It will be a great final (i hope) at a amazing stadium..

    Other options were:

    Berlin - Olympiastadion
    Lisbon - Estádio da Luz
London - Wembley Stadium - UEFA have said this to be a unrealistic target, maybe for 2010
    Milan - San Siro
    Munich - Allianz Arena
    Porto - Estádio do Dragão
    Seville - Olimpico Sevilla

I don't think Italy should be hosting these big finals, the vast majority of our stadiums are an absolute disgrace. Hulking masses of concrete, intimidating pits, cages, appalling toilets etc.

Hopefully this award will prompt clubs to now make it a priority to improve conditions at our football grounds. We have no new stadiums like Germany for example that we can be proud of, true we have theatres of football, but apart form the corporate boxes, they are crumbling.

It's sad to say, but if you aren't an Italian you will think our stadiums old and shit, and most of them are. It's a depressing state of affairs in our game, clubs have little money to invest, most grounds are owned by the City Councils, they first have to buy the stadiums back before they can renovate or move and only the big clubs like Milan, Juve and possibly Roma can afford this.

Surely the atmosphere will 'generate' a good Final?

If it's to be completed by 2008 then it's got to be Shakhtar Stadium.

I think in Italy the atmosphere certainly helps to 'mask' the inadequacies of the stadia, depending on where you sit of course Wink

I've been to Verona, it's not a pretty sight.

I've been to the South, and some of the stadiums there are not pretty, especially in the summer and warmer climes, they stink!

    Shocked

<Ale> WOW! What a great stadium!

As a side issue, did you see the thread about Stadia that Otoo started? What do you think about the delays in Lazio's relocation? It must be quite infuriating really, the plans are changing all the time! Rolling Eyes

Can you buy a final to be in your stadium now?
(Looking at the above named stadiums, and the ones left out, the only thing that differs is the amount of cash Uefa will receive...erm...make from the organizers...)

Wouldn't the San Siro be a better stadium than the Stadio Olimpico?

The Wembley lobbyists' can't complain - who's going to award a major event to a stadium that's never been used at all?
