Le Guen is under increasing pressure for many reasons: He can’t get results; he can’t motivate players; his tactics are ineffective; his purchases are inappropriate; he shows favouritism; and he contradicts himself, resulting in him appearing incompetent at best, sly at worst.
A few weeks ago, when Barry Ferguson – club captain – was returning from injury, he stated that nobody – even the captain – was guaranteed a place in his starting eleven. This week, he stated that Letizi was replacing McGregor as goalkeeper, as Letizi is his preferred choice in goals. He also stated that there is, indeed, a hierarchy at the club as it’s necessary.
To me, his statements are baffling and contradictory; to the players, too, it must be disheartening to be under the control of an individual who is indecisive, maybe even deliberately unfair.
As far as I can tell, most Rangers fans are unhappy with him; in addition, he has been severely – and justifiably – criticised for dropping McGregor – SPL player of the month – for the erratic Letizi.
