Rangers v Celtic Empty Rangers v Celtic

Post by Pierre Littbarski Sat Mar 29, 2008 11:27 am

Kicks off in just over an hour <Ale>

I don't have a preference between the 2 - I am British but also Catholic so confusing !

I always just go for whichever club has the players I like at the time.

There aren't really any players that excite me in the Rangers side (like Gazza, Albertz or Laudrup) so Celtic will get the nod for Samaras and Nakamura.

Where do your loyalties lie or do you not give a $h!t ?

Very boring and narrow looking midfield from Rangers by the looks of it - Celtic have some creativity in McGeady and Nakamura.

I actually liked Rangers when I was a kid. I even wrote to David Murray and received a reply as a nipper. But I was naive and obviously unaware of the political issues that embroil the club.

Now I am prejudiced against them.

Anyway, Walter Smith is a fool for completely disregarding his most technically gifted player...all season. I watched Thomas Buffel tear Hearts a new one during a reserve game last week. He was performing the Zidane 360, double drag-backs, dinks, and threading balls through Hearts’ defence. And Alan Gow is also very technically able. He has lots of tricks, is a good finisher, and makes good movements across the opponent’s box. Is he playing? No! Walter doesn’t like technically proficient players now. Doh!

I’m glad Samaras is starting. Strachan doesn’t normally start him.

Rangers really have a chance to win the league today. Celtic maybe have to go for it a bit considering the situation.

Nakamura has been a big let down, rarely does to much unless a free kick comes up.

Not sure if people are aware of Cuellar but he looks a fine decent playing at times centre back.

@ the bulk Gow over Darcheville? get outta here.

    LRD

No, really! I was dubious about Gow's abilities when he signed for Rangers, but I've seen him play twice now and both times he has really impressed me.

I realise I have only seen him play twice for Rangers, but he has a good touch, can dribble and beat players, and he makes good runs.

I think he might be too lightweight, however. He got brushed off the ball quite easily in both games I watched him in. And you can't be physically weak in the SPL. Hence the reason Jean Claude gets a game in front of him.

Keep your eye on him, LRD.

    Cheers

Yeah, but he has been a lttie jaded recently. He gets pissed a lot in Glasgow nightclubs. It is now taking its toll on him.

I think Boyd is Rangers' top goalscorer, too, and he isn't playing either.

Thomson is playing really well, as is Davis. They are both overrunning Celtic's midfield.

Both sets of strikers are playing poorly. Although Samaras has at least held the ball up a few times, had a shot on goal, and threaded a ball through.

Broadfoot is so slow. McGeady isn't the quickest, although he has improved his acceleration this season, and he beats him for pace!

Rangers need to get a guy in behind Broadfoot. Then, if McGeady does beat him for pace, somebody will be there to mitigate any danger.

McGeady has put a few crosses in and won a couple of corners because of Broadfoot's lack of pace.

About Buffel, I think if Rangers play him in one more game they have to pay an extra fee to his previous club, which they can't afford because of their massive debts.

    Whoop

Rangers Celtic is like man utd liverpool. one team always wins one teams can never even score.

Rangers were always in control after the goal. Compelling game if not the greatest. Scott Brown's value has been on a downward spiral since november

Clear penalty on Brown after great pass from Samaras.

At least the officials didn't try and hide their bias - 3 mins added when Thomson was down injured for 3.5 mins Doh

Plus subs you're easily looking at 6 or 7 mins.

Well done, Rangers. I think they will go on to win the league.

Rangers are technically very limited. But they fight well and win most challenges, be it in the air or on the ground.

Celtic lack a lot of fight. Guys like Sutton, Hartson, Lennon, and Alan Thompson wouldn't have been intimidated today.

McGeady was mostly sh1t. I know he dislikes Rangers and anyone associated with them with a passion. And he hates coming off second best. So he must be really pissed that he hardly got the upper hand over Broadfoot, aka Clubfoot.

ps When other people used to lose the ball he would go mental and call everyone sh1t and then throw a temper tantrum. But I see that when he loses the ball now he gives everyone the thumbs up. Hyprocrite. Where's Roy Keane? He needs to sort McGeady out.

Here's another inconsistency for you. Barry Ferguson has not been booked in the league this season, I believe. He should have been booked for dissent today if the ref was being consistent. But he didn't, thereby maintaining his 100% non-booking record. You see, Rangers need him for the next two old firm games.

Moreover, Kevin Thomson probably thought he would receive a second yellow for diving. Hence he wanted to be carried off and subbed in order to save Rangers from having to play with 10 men.

    He has no injury apparently.

Hinkel played well and had a great 25 yard shot tipped over in the second half. These are honestly two of the worst Old Firm teams I have ever seen, so negative and boring.

Rangers will win the league easily now even with the two trips to Parkhead to come.
