Kieron Dyer completed a successful 90 minutes for Newcastle yesterday in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Gretna.
Dyer has yet to kick a ball this season, but came through the specially arranged game unscathed. The Magpies were 4-1 winners against the Scottish outfit.
Toon boss Glenn Roeder, told nufc.co.uk: "Kieron got 90 minutes under his belt and he was getting stronger and stronger in the last 20 minutes I'm told.
"He increased his tempo as the game went on and he was feeling terrific. Now we'll look at getting him another game and another 90 minutes next week.
"I was watching Kieron play in the game before coming to the (Fenerbahce) press conference, he was doing very well and I'm sure he won't have any problems.
"He looked very sharp in the game.
"Kieron is getting very, very close. I have to say he has worked extremely hard. It's not a question of him having this extended period off to sit around doing nothing.
"He has worked very hard through the summer, and while we are that close to getting him back in with the first team, it would be very foolish to push him in one week too soon."

It looks like they been ultra careful with his "rehab" this time and hasn't been rushed back, ala Souness, so hopefully he's back for good this time.
I hope people haven't forgotten how good he is. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0cWxnxDfBs
When Lazarus gets back this is probably the best team we could put out, providing they play it on the ground.
