Dyer's Back!!! For How Long? Nobody Knows. Empty Dyer's Back!!! For How Long? Nobody Knows.

Post by Kimbo Thu Oct 19, 2006 11:36 am

Kieron Dyer completed a successful 90 minutes for Newcastle yesterday in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Gretna.

Dyer has yet to kick a ball this season, but came through the specially arranged game unscathed. The Magpies were 4-1 winners against the Scottish outfit.

Toon boss Glenn Roeder, told nufc.co.uk: "Kieron got 90 minutes under his belt and he was getting stronger and stronger in the last 20 minutes I'm told.

"He increased his tempo as the game went on and he was feeling terrific. Now we'll look at getting him another game and another 90 minutes next week.

"I was watching Kieron play in the game before coming to the (Fenerbahce) press conference, he was doing very well and I'm sure he won't have any problems.

"He looked very sharp in the game.

"Kieron is getting very, very close. I have to say he has worked extremely hard. It's not a question of him having this extended period off to sit around doing nothing.

"He has worked very hard through the summer, and while we are that close to getting him back in with the first team, it would be very foolish to push him in one week too soon."

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It looks like they been ultra careful with his "rehab" this time and hasn't been rushed back, ala Souness, so hopefully he's back for good this time.

I hope people haven't forgotten how good he is. Twisted Evil https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0cWxnxDfBs

When Lazarus gets back this is probably the best team we could put out, providing they play it on the ground. ok

Good to see him back. <Ale>

Roeders priority in the next transfer window must be to strengthen the defence.

Bit to much defensive reliance on Parker, especially if Roeder wants him to go forward more.

He can play DM, it's not what he's best at but who else are we going to play there? Butt?!

It'll never happen ofcourse because he's got his favourites, Emre, Duff, Bramble, Carr, and Ameobi. Doh

If Butts not good enough, then I think you should get rid of him and bring in a defensive midfielder in his place in January. As that system would leave to many gaps in midfield. Also think if your playing a diamond, Dyer is much better in Solano's role.

Maybe bring in a centre back and a full back as well, if you have the dough.

    He's a Wasteman.

I still don't know how it's possible to be on £80k a week and manage to earn that title, but Kieron did it.

Dyer- the epitomy of a wasted talent. What a player he could have become with the right attitude...

    Anyway,

surely the best Newcastle midfield 4 woud include Emre, Dyer, Parker and Solano with N'Zog an impact sub (or until Dyer gets "injured" again)

And I'm being honest there - Solano is just past it IMO - he no longer has the pace, his crossing is still good but Newcaslte play so deep that he's ineffective.

Duff has been poor so far for Newcastle - he as well seems to have lost some pace

I'm not to sure about that, people moaned about Duff's contribution vs Bolton and then N'Zogbia came on and did absolutely nothing as well.

Duff just went to boost his bank account - any big name player that has gone up there in the last 2 years (Kluivert, Emre, Owen) has lost motivation at club level and just wants a big fat paycheck.

    @ parky

One game though, the fact of the matter was that the Zog was Newcastles BEST player last season - shows what a complete IDIOT roeder is to go and sign Duff to replace him Doh

Everyone in the country could tell you what the money could have beeb better spent on - and remember as well that hes on £70,000 a week! Yikes

Yup the zog is better than Duff currently, who has been a massive dissapointment. As for Dyer, forget it Kimbo he's done for. He can't grow as a player at 27. Sad really cause he could have been THE SHIT!

A very gifted wasteman. Unlucky with "injuries", IMO England have been unfortunate in losing 2 of their most gifted players(him and Woodgate) for so long. ok

And yes he is on 80k a week, another one of Souness' and Shepherds mistakes. Doh

    @TS

You realise Duff took a paycut tocome here? Erm He's not on 70k+ like he was at Chelsea. ok

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

    @ Robert

Does he need to grow as a player? He was pretty awesome before he got injured and from what i hear he's hasn't lost his pace. If he can comeback and play like he did under Robson(and for a very brief period under Souness) then i'd be more than happy.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------

I think i would go for Parkys formation plus MAYBE Solano at right back, i hear he's played there sometimes for Peru(?). Maybe Puro "I'm Peruvian don't you know" Toque can tell us more?!

Solano is a bit like Beckham these days, handy at set pieces and can create the odd bit of magic, but just can't take on his man anymore.

It's noy just Dyer it seems to hamper its your whole team. Are you sure there is nothing wrong with the way Newcastle train? They really should be a top 6 side.
