England Squad Discussion

Just seen the England squad and cant belive soe of his picks, Kirkland, Richardson, Foster (yeah looks good but not played in the Premiership) Phil Neville.

The squad as a whole looks pretty poor, thank god its 2 years off the next major tournement.

Something i noticed, if Cole leaves Arsenal they have no England internationals, which is suprising.

Aye. It's not a bad squad actually... not the best personnel, but atleast he's got the correct balance for a 4-4-2, unlike Sven.

Name one good game hes had for England ?

Euro2000 - gives away pen (KOs England)
Euro2004 - lets Rui Costa score in the 1/4s Extra time - would have KOd England but for Frank Lampard's equaliser.

Thank goodness hes only played in 2 tournaments

Since joe cole is injured iss there a guy called etherington who is good on the left wing? Can't remember who he plays for. Also agree with parker, reo-coker, and what about nolan, barton etc. and a midfielder from aston villa whose name I cannot remember

Barton and Nolan over who?

Etherington is decent but no better than Richardson/Downing(plays for West Ham) Reo-Coker would have been alright to bring up I suppose, but again, instead of who?
They cant ALL replace Jenas.

not thinking davis are you? he's northern irish. barry is the only one that's feasible really - unless you think gavin mccann is worth a recall!

sounds better to me, it's a friendly and mcclaren can see in training what these other players can do, otherwise he always has the same group of players all the time.

He will start for under 21's but be on the bench for the full squad

I find the ommision of beckham very ridiculous. He posses some qualities which no england player has, so i don't know why he isn't included in the squad. I don't think he should be an automatic starter aymore but i think he can still be a usefull member of the squad.

Having just thought about it, i think Macca is doing exactly what he knows the press like/want without actually considering some tactical//technical issues.
