German YOUTH Football Madness !! Empty German YOUTH Football Madness !!

    Post by Ä Tue Nov 07, 2006 10:11 pm

the World Cup already showed that Germany now has the most mature talents in the world

Lahm, Schweini, Poldi and Merte had no Brazilian/Argentinian/Dutch equivalents at all

Robinho, Messi, Tevez, Robben , vPersie, Rooney and Co were all found wanting at the highest level

what non-Germans don't realise is the extent of talents sprouting out of a very fertile football ground, just below the Schweini's of the world:

Kiessling, Boateng, Polanski, Trochowski, Ottl, Gomez and Co spring to mind

even better , go back a few years and a young generation is emerging from out of nowhere: 18/19 year old kids that are being chased by the top clubs in Europe (most of them playing at Stuttgart or Berlin)

two years younger and you have the U-17 European Cup Top Goalscorer, chap called Fischer, the hottest striker-talent in Europe

you can already see that every single year is basically throwing up a new generation

    and now, the CLINCHER

football clubs in Germany report a post-World Cup BOOM of 20% +

some clubs are having to put kids on waiting lists, others turn them down completely

still, imagine this: a population of 80 million Teutons , and then a 20% increase in kids picking up the sport

    +

Sammer, the new DFB football director promises a stronger emphasis on ELITE education

    @ foreigners

some of you are nice people; others aren't

you have one thing in common though

you won't be winning anything of note for years to come Wink

    @Otto,

dear boy, old chap, fine gentleman. You are pulling our collective leg aren't you? Seriously, you must be. This is not a well timed post:

Were you asleep last month? Have you just awoken from autumnal hibernation?

I can only think this must be the explanation.

our A-U-21 team has never played together, but if it did would win the Olympics

our B-U-21 team was eliminated in the Euro Qualifiers

    fine, fair enough

but that's exactly what I am saying

in the future even our B-U-21 team would win the Olympics

    the SECOND STRING

don't be impatient; you'll experience the fall-out of our youth revolution in a few years already

Huntelaar will then wish Bochum let him into the Bundesliga, because HSV sure as hell will be all-German

    true story

Not commenting about Otto's Germany's hegemonic football era in years to come but I'd like to say that success in youth categories doesn't always carries onto the senior lvl anyway. Main thing should be forming players, after that if results come along then good.

Should it be like that then we should have won at least one more senior WC title(though I do believe we were the best team last WC)

    * Japan, 1979 with Diego Maradona and Ramón Díaz
    * Qatar, 1995 with Juan Pablo Sorín
    * Malaysia, 1997 with Juan Román Riquelme, Esteban Cambiasso, and Pablo Aimar
    * Argentina, 2001 with Javier Saviola, and Andrés D'Alessandro
    * Netherlands, 2005 with Lionel Messi, and Sergio Agüero

I do enjoy watching youth teams playing though 16, 17 years old are the best to watch IMO...most of them haven't turned into pros and they actually care for playing for the squad instead of thinking of the car the club owes for last tournament or so

Exactly. In 2001 Brazil had Luisão, Baptista, Adriano and Kaká. They had more impact at pro level than any argentinian player. In 93 Brazil won the tournament and all the players, except Dida, didn´t have a sucessful career.

    @barrilete/sheva

TBH: talents come and go, the trick is to MAKE top class footballers out of them

in other words, they need to get time and trust and ultimatively confidence through success

curiously the Dutch have a relatively small population but the advantage that their talents can PLAY in the Eredivisie day in day out with little pressure, often at ridiculously young ages

Germans often get a few games and are then discarded when the pressure grows in relegation fights

then you have the element of a player's CHARACTER which is all-important: the greatest talent is useless if you cannot apply it consistently when the odds are against you

young Germans have slightly lost that ability, which is why Sammer now demands more "kernige Typen" and "individuelle Charakterschulung" , ie real personalities, if need be by fostering them from a young age onwards

quite a challenge, and frankly a bit of a long-shot

Bierhoff now has this ridiculous idea of wanting to teach the Nationalspieler "manners": how to behave in public, use your fish-knife, greet the Chancellor...

still, the fact that more talents are emerging in the Bundesliga and that clubs like Stuttgart, Berlin and Bremen are all doing rather well domestically probably means that German football will experience a renaissance

    As often you're completely misinformed.

First of all our talents are playing abroad (in Germany amongst others).

Second we have an equal amount (if not more) foreigners playing in the Eredivisie as you have Germans in Der Bundesliga.

Take my beloved FC Groningen for example, no special team at all and no money to spend whatsoever (even after selling Robben and Luirink).

Most money spend *ever* on a player by us is 1.5 M euro on Suarez.

In our 24-player squad we have :

13 Dutchies, 2 Swedes, 2 Uruguayans, 1 Serve, 1 Croat, 1 Ukrainian, 1 Norwegian, 1 South African, 1 Czech and 1 player from Sierra Leone...

Not really much room for young Dutch talent...

The difference between our two countries is a matter of style and approach : we don't have the "win-at-all-cost"-attitude that you do.

*That's* what makes it easier to give young talent playing time, that and the fact that we're less risk-avoiding than you lot are...

At this time we're schooling foreigners over here.

Arguably two of the biggest young talents in our league are 19 year old strikers Moussa Dembele (Belgian) and Luis Suarez (Uruguayan).

I want to see him banned too but only IF the UEFA can prove he's guilty. I don't wanna allege that your English players are lying as I'm not completely sure that Hunt didn't do it, because after watching the pictures again it looks like Hunt is saying something which Ferdinand repeats that could "sound" like "monkey" but if we are starting to punish players without having any evidence but lip-reading then RIP football.

    It sets an interesting precedent.

If (as has been suggested) Terry called King a 'monkey' at the weekend, does this mean that it's officially a racist term as defined by UEFA and Terry should be banned and fined?
