Anyone watching MOTD2? Hansen's hilarious.

You can sum up everything he said with "Gerrard is God and he can do no wrong".

In the Gerrard highlights, he praises him even in the ones where he makes mistakes. An overhit pass to Crouch was all Crouch's fault because he "lacked pace". He praised Gerrard for a slide where he miscontrolled the ball to begin with. There were several other comedic moments. I think that if they had shown footage of Gerrard farting, Hansen would have started praising the smell.

A memorable episode for sure

It's all good though, because that's the kind of inspiration he offers in the centre of the pitch.

I too found it funny. One sprayed pass to the wing was the only good thing they showed of him yet he praised him to the skies!

He even mishit the ball for the Bellend "goal".

Zidane played LM for Real and still was a inspiration.

It still surprises me that people are shocked when he does this though. I remember him going absolutely overboard and making a compilation of "carrick highlights" from the Ecuador game at the world cup.

Well i may disagree with what the say, but ive my own criticism's of Benitez's tactics, so id be hypocritical to say anything there !

But that is hilarious Souness fabulous player, absolutely woeful manager he was one of the main reasons Liverpool transcended into a team that did not challenge for the title !

Hansen couldn't understand the logic of appointing Benitez. I remember him being critical at Euro2004 when it was first announced that we were going him for him...

"Why get rid of one defensive coach to bring in another".

I genuinely loathe Hansen. Not because he wasn't a great player for Liverpool, but because unlike Lawro, Ian Rush and Fairclough - who he's a far better pundit than - he doesn't seem to want us to do better than we did when he was playing.

I get the feeling that Hansen couldn't be happier when we fall flat on our face, just so he can point out that we're nowhere near as good as we were in "his day".

Of course, anyone is entitled to criticize Benitez. I just find it strange that Hansen seems to have real preferential treatment for certian coaches. He's constantly criticized Benitez no matter how well Liverpool are doing, and he kept praising Souness even when Newcastle were fighting for relegation

Its a simple loyalty issue, Hansen and Souness and good freinds, and im sure good media coverage will help land Souness another managerial job somewhere.

As for the Benitez bashing well Hansen is simply sitting on his high horse, because he will only ever criticise Benitez when things aren't going well, yet never reserve any praise for him when they are.

Hes simply lacks the ability to be objective and is a tool, two ingredients that should have been evident as to why he should not be a pundit.

I haven't watched MOTD over the years to determine if what you're saying is true, but I'll take your word for it. I have seen enough of Hansen to know that the guy's an idiot though. The worst display of his stupidity I witnessed was during the WC, where he insulted Ronaldo in a way that made me want to smash my screen in anger. I thought his "Brazil can't win the WC with Ronaldo" quote was even worse than the old ManU/kids quote.

You have to ignore him. Every quote is a potential soundbite. he's looking for his next "you won't win anything with kids".

His latest big name target has been Shevchenko, who he plain doesn't rate and didn't think would make an impact in the premiership.

He said that his player assured him that he had been fouled before the goal and that he had enormouse trust in his player. He then said that the ref was amazing and he rarely made mistakes so he doubted that he made a mistake that time.

Yeah, I forgot about that one. He claimed that Sheva wouldn't fit in the Chelsea lineup once Joe Cole was back due to players like Drogba (who he always claimed was crap till recently) and Lampard (who wasn't doing great either).

Well i think its abundently clear that Hansen holds no credibility, when he has not even had a crack at management himself, who on earth is he to judge those who have put their reputations on the line for a career in management.

But then he probably knows all too well that with comments like hes made, he'd be a god awful manager, ala Souness the second.

To be fair to him, the ENglish FA are quite harsh on charging managers with "bringing the game into disrepute". So he's probably thinking it's better I just shut up and be nice rather than risk anything.

I watched it as well, he sounded very upset. Was even less understandeble for me as usual. I guess he was pissed about the Liverpool loss

In his mind he's stil keeping an eye out for managing the three lions, IMO. Practically no other explanation - even though he said last year he didn't want it. He knows he needs to be as inoffensive as McClaren to come under consideration with the FA.

What struck me the most was on MOTD 1, even when Drogba was putting a monster performance, arguably his best in the prem, they couldn't even compliment him, but ignored Drogba altogether and instead ran a piece bigging up Cashley.

Its the English syndrome.

Like when they showed us against Blackburn and said it was all about Rooney today, even though he was our worst attacking player and missed two sitters.

They had a bit on sheva and drogba link up, and the bit about cole was about, lack of wingers needing the full backs to get forward which was a good thing to highlight, playing with makelele ballack lampard essien.
